Hi My nephew is off to Disney in a fortnights time and the main thing he wants to get is the DS lite. It is OK to buy over there ?? Voltages, Games etc. compatable with this country and would it actually be any cheaper????

Thanks for any help.

The only thing that is different is the charger but you can buy an adaptor. The games are ok and with the current exchange rate are a good buy.

We bought one from Florida last september the games are the same in dollars as they are in pounds ie; $19.99 for braniac its £19.99 over here. We got a charger from one of the games shops over here for £5.99. We shopped around for the DS and found it cheapest in the virgin megastore at down town disney some of the games are about $5 less from there as well. hope this helps :thumbsup2

Please do not use the US charger with just a 2 to 3 pin plug adapter, the UK voltage is too high for the Nintendo charger. You should either buy a charger in the US that is capable of 110v to 240v input and a 2 to 3 pin adapter or wait till you get back and order a 3 pin version over here. The output to the DS doesn't differ on either the US console or the UK version.

I personally got a universal DS charger in one of the malls then ordered a couple of quality 2 to 3 pin adapters from ebay alongside a USB charger to plug in the PC.

We came back on monday and tried everywhere to get 2 for our kids out there but everyone had sold out, at an electronics shop in the florida mall they said nintendo were out of stock, he laughed at me when i asked for 2, had 2 upset kids, went to toys r us yesterday at home, and they have sold out aswell.:confused3

Hi

I am thinking of purchasing one in NYC. We go on the 14th March if there is a good deal then yay I will buy one. My dh got his PSP from FL. I dont know what he did whether he bought a new charger for it. I never thought to ask.

As far as I remember, the PSP charger works on anything between 100-240V, so all thats needed is a straightforward adapter, or snipping off the 2 pin plug and putting a regular plug on it.

This import question comes up so often, I think it should be a sticky thread.
