My family will be traveling to WDW in October. One night grandmother has volunteered to take the children while my wife and I have dinner.:woohoo:We have narrowed our list down to two places and wanted input from the experts. We have chosen Nine Dragons and Le Cellier. We are looking for great food with a great atmoshpere. We are not picky eaters at all. Does anyone have any advice? Also, what would you eat at what particular restaurant?

They are two completely different restaurants. If you have spent some time looking long and hard at all your other options and these are your top two, then timing may well make the decision for you.

Le Cellier books up really quickly - often within hours of the 180 day mark. This is not to say that cancellations don't happen - they do -but you may need to be a lot more persistent to get a reservation there. Nine Dragons on the other hand would be comparitively easy to snag a reservation.

Le Cellier is incredibly poplular. Nine Dragons gets mixed reviews. Now coming from someone who often does not go with the majority, I would say if you are leaning toward one or the other, give it your best shot and don't be deterred by others' opinions. Go onto www.allear.net and read some reviews. You can also check out the menus there if you have not already done so. Personally, I have never eaten at Le Cellier, nor ever even attempted to get a reservation there mostly because the menu doesn't really appeal to me, but also partly because I am slightly put off by all the hype (told you I don't go with the crowd :rotfl:). Having said that, if I wanted a special meal as a couple and had to pick between the two, I would go with Le Cellier if there was availability.

Very difficult to tell a stranger what they would prefer, but hope that helps a bit. I am sure you will get quite a good response to this question with some folk being very, er .... enthusiastic about their recommendations and/or criticisms.

Whatever you decide, I hope it is absolutely magical for you both! :goodvibes

This may be a first for me: I am recommending Le Cellier. I'm not sure I will ever return to Nine Dragons after having dinner there several years ago. The food was so unbelievably expensive, and I honestly prefer the junk Chinese takeout available on just about every street corner in my hometown in New York. Le Cellier is totally overrated and undeserving of the incredible praise and hype it consistently receives. But it's not a terrible restaurant, and it's certainly better than Nine Dragons, in my opinion.

We have eaten at both. They are 2 completely different dining experiences. We did enjoy our dinner at Nine Dragons but we loved our meals at LeCellier.
As the pp mentioned, getting an ADR for LeCellier may be impossible at this point. The ADR's for October opened up in April.

I have eaten at both and each one has its good points, if you do nine dragons make sure you try the ginger ice cream . Its to die for!:thumbsup2

My vote is LeCellier.....as my son says "that cheese soup just warms my soul"
I also feel that the atmosphere is great for a "date" night dinner.

I like them both, but from an ambience perspective, Le Cellier seems more relaxed, more condusive to a relaxing, quiet couple dinner. Also, I felt like the tables were so close to gether at 9 Dragons that I could borrow our neighbors condiments, freely. ;)

I'm advising again LeCellier for the main reason that the tables are very close together so if you are wanting some quiet time, you probably are not going to get it. When just my husband and I went, we were so close to the couples next to us that we could have easily been part of their conversation. That was on both sides of us. Not all that comfortable if you are looking for alone time.

I would say Le Cellier hands down. Nine Dragons wasn't any better to us than our local chinese place and you pay a LOT more. They have no great or interesting desserts on the menu, and portion sizes are small. You might have a more intimate time there, though because Le Cellier is small and always full, but the food is way better. (Unless you love chinese and hate steak, then eat at Nine Dragons)
If you can't get a Le Cellier reservation, keep trying. You should have no problem getting a Nine Dragons reservation, and you can cancel it if you do happen into a Le Cellier slot.

I have not been to Nine Dragons in 15 years and THAT how bad the experience was - enough to keep me away for 15 years bad.

Truthfully if you are wanting romantic date night dinner I wouldn't recommend Le Cellier either because chances are pretty good you're going to be sitting 4 inches away from the toddler belonging to the table next to you.

We are doing Le cellar for the frist time here In a couple weeks,so I guess I will hold off judgement there. But 9 draggons Is a must for me and my DS everytime we go, sometimes twice. Is It over price, yep but just about everything at Disney Is, Includeing Lecellar!. Is It typcal local Amercian typ chinese food ya to a point, but just like any restraunt you can not goto two restraunts alike. The one thing I would say against 9 Draggons Is the Date part, 9 draggons has more of a large Family typ rooms, knothing real romantic about It La cellar, from the pictures has more of that comfy feel., and desserts I would agree with other post, not much of a selection.
My recomendation, make them both and then think about what typ of evenning you want food wise I do not think you would go wrong with 9 draggons.
