Nikon ?

I just bought a Nikon D40 and it is being shipped adn should be here tomorrow and i was just wondering does it come with one of those neck straps that say nikon on them or am i going to have to go out and buy my own one

I suggest going ahead and spending about $25 on a good strap like an OP/Tech. Your neck will thank you. The free ones with cameras are not comfortable.

I was so excited when I got my D80 and had an awesome looking "NIKON" strap.......one day in the parks with that baby and I was wishing that I had something else. It could have said Canon for all I care, I just wanted something with more support for my neck and was not sweaty when I put it on. I haven't purchased a new one yet, but I certainly will before I leave in august.

It should but one thing also is its cool that is says Nikon and I was pretty stoked the first time I got one BUT as a older wiser shooter pointed out to me it also advertises your gear and makes you a possible target for thieves.

Most DSLR look alike all black and huge (compared to p&s) but at the pawn shop some will bring more money than others. With the name straps you make it easier to tell which one to snatch.

So get one of the op/tech one or one of the generic 60's wide straps OR get a spiffy Disney strap http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1864299

I think the safest thing would be to have your camera painted pink and the strap to say "I love boys"

Thanks i got my camera yesterday and it came with the strap and thinking of getting a new one that is more comfortable
