Nikon School questions

Has anyone ever attended these Nikon school courses: Introduction to Digital photography ($119.00) and Next Steps: Color, Light, Technology ($159.00)?

What did you think about the info presented? Was it worth the $$$$ ?

FYI this class is available in the Philadelphia area

I attended that course about 8 years ago not long after it was rolled out. I was in the process of making the transition from film to digital at the time and even through I had a lot of photographic knowledge, it was worthwhile to get the fundamentals of the digital side of the things. It was worth it to me at the time. They used to post a rough syllabus on their web site, if the topics don't look too basic for you, then I'd go for it.

(Ironically, my dad was one of the first Nikon School instructors when they were first started in the early 70's!)

and I didn't feel it was worth it. If you are a real novice then it might help or if you lack complete confidence it could help you. Back when there was very little out there with digital training and it was better than nothing; there's a lot more now with books and videos and such to learn from for digital photography.

Nikon packs them in like sardines in these training sessions and there's very little individual attention. You do get some tool aids that you get to keep and those were all right.

I honestly think you would be better off investing your time in a photography course at a local community college.

I haven't committed yet, but there's a 80% chance I'll be there for the 1st day.

I don't know anything about the Nikon School courses. I'll bet they're packed full of great information and I'll bet they're well-taught.

However, it seems like a LOT of money to charge / spend for a simple "Intro to Digital Photography" course. For that price, you could probably sign up for a smaller, local photography class led by an instructor who'll give you personal attention.

Or, you can buy an Intro to Digital Photography DVD for LOTS less money. Or, there are tons of "Intro to Digital Photography" books at your local bookstore for even cheaper!

There's a wealth of Intro to Digital Photography resources that are available from so many different sources. It seems like a lot to pay soooo much $$$$$ for info that's so readily available.

I think a paid class >$100 is probably more worth it for more-intermediate photography topics.
