Nikon Introduces New D7100 and Radio Remote Controller

Interesting, Nikon went all-out for fairly advanced photography (better AF..) but the video is only 1080 30p or a cropped 1080 60i.

I'm interested in following the progression of the 24mp sensor, because it may influence what goes into my manufacturers new offerings. Sony just introduced a new 20mp sensor that I'm monitoring also. Because of Sony's SLT technology, its hard to get a read on the sensor performance in DSLR's. I really would like to see real life reviews, especially in the area of usable higher ISO's.

That camera actually sounds pretty exciting.
As a Sony shooter, I followed the recent announcement of the Sony A58-- which also appears to be offering a significant sensor improvement. Unfortunately.... I think Sony is tinkering with their product levels..... There were rumors they were going to announce the A38, and then at the last second... lo and behold the A58 -- with many features taking a step back from the A57. So I get the sense that the A58 is their new entry-level, and is really replacing the A37.

If I wasn't invested in Minolta/Sony... The D7100 would be very tempting. I'll be interested in the eventual A78, which rumor suggest may use the same sensor as the D7100. Due to the translucent mirror though, it loses about a half-stop of noise performance.

Hey Terry, if you want to see the real performance of the sensor, you have to read the Nex reviews when they come out. The Nex doesn't have the translucent mirror. I will probably buy the Nex 7 replacement to go along with my K-5II.

Not enough to make me upgrade a D7000 to a D7100.

I am pretty sure at this point, I am waiting it out for another season of updates and move to a full frame.

Preordered mine. I'm thinking this will make a great backup to the D600.
Is this replacing your D7000 or did you already get rid of it? I thought about upgrading my the D7000 i use as backup to my D800 but decided the money might be better spent on some new high end glass! :)

That was my problem. I had Minolta 35mm, so I bought a Minolta 5D (in 2005) to support my Minolta lenses.

As digital cameras got more sophisticated I was ready to upgrade. But while in Hawaii in 2009, I dropped my 5D. I was already on a $8,000 vacation and now needed a camera. Went to local best buy and bought a sony A200 to finish the vacation since it was just a rebranded 5D.

I didn't get around to switching to a new brand (Nikon) until 2012 because of the $3k + I needed to spend on all new Nikon gear to get me where I was with the sony, but with much better stuff.

Yeah, it'll replace the D7000. I actually still need to sell my D700, too.
