It looks like an impressive program. Just wondering it it's worth getting (and worth the price). I have CS2 now.

I have used the 30 day trial and I love it. It is much easier to use than Photoshop. I think you have more control over your image than with Photoshop.

I have been looking at this too. I just started venturing into the world or RAW. I tried Photoshop, but my computer and Photoshop would not play nice together. So, I ended up getting PSPXI. Works fine on my computer, but I do not like the RAW conversion. I currently have a free download of Capture One. I really like the RAW conversion, but it does not offer much in the way of editing. And from what I have read, you should do most of your editing and then convert last.

Do you know the difference between Capture NX and Capture 4?

I tried it when I got my D200 back last March, but my computer was pretty old, didn't have enough RAM and it was not working very well. Have to try again since lots of Nikonians really like it and it's suppose to have a better RAW converter than CS2.

I use it since I shoot in RAW mode. I figure they have the best converter since it is their format. It is also nice when editing. I use it in conjunction with CS2.

I really love NX, but it is just so darn slow on my machine - and I'm not running an antique.
Others say it runs fine for them, so maybe I'm just unlucky.

It did get better once I changed the swap file to an empty 500 gb drive, but to me it's almost unusable. I use Lightroom for day to day stuff and only switch over to NX when it has a feature I absolutely have to use.

FYI, I'm running on a P4 3.2 Ghz computer, with 4GB DDR 4200 RAM & 1.5 TB hard drive space.

Thanks for the replies. I have the latest trial verson installed. With an Athlon 2800 and 1gig memory, the program is slow as a snail. It's a quite a bit different than PS2's interface and I find it unintuative. That may be because I've been using PS for a long time. I'll give another workout before I decide to buy.

Yep! That pretty much sums up my experience with it. Might have to try it again, but I like the reviews of Lightroom!!
