Nikon d40!!!!!!!!! yay!

As a birthday gift, Vin got me a Nikon D40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was crying hysterically... and i mean shaking like a leaf. My whole life i wanted a "real" camera... and now i have one...

Now...heres the question...

ANYONE have one and can give me some pointers? My goal is to take a nice picture of the fireworks!

I have a D40. I got it about a year ago. I keep mine in 'P' mode.

You should head over to the Photography board there is tons of info over there

If you wanna see some of my photos check out my photo blog, I haven't tried any of the fireworks settings they recommend as I don't have a tripod, but I have mainly Disney pics.

I checked out the book Nikon D40 for dummies from the library and it helped me learn what all the buttons and things do. Trying to learn from the manual that comes with the camera is mind numbing.
