Nike Women's Marathon '11

I got an email from the race today offering me a spot!!! I can finally get my necklace!!! Registered for the 1/2 to make sure there wouldn't be any problems like last year and that there would be necklaces for me when I finished.

Anyways, I was given a code for me and a friend. The registration w/ the code is open until either 1am tomorrow Pacific time or if spaces fill up first. If someone wants the code, PM me and I can PM you the code. You can register for either the 1/2 or the full. I know it's short notice, but I figured someone will want it. So let me know!!

Sorry, here's some info~ The race is Oct 16th in San Francisco. The 1/2 is $130 and the full is $150. You can purchase a bus ticket back to the start area for $10.

Kim - if I wasn't registered for another event (marathon relay - for my final 20 miler for my fall marathon) and could plan a cross-country trip last minute, I would SO take that second slot. Any chance they'll give you one for 2012

Is there a limit to how many people can enter per group? Does the group leader who initially obtained the ID know how many people register with it? I have a small group of people so far (this is only the first day I've been gathering names) and if it is more beneficial for us to be in a bigger group we may use the group ID created here. Trying to figure out what's best... Good luck to all!

I'm hoping to get lucky enough to get into this year's race. Apparently my love of the Tiffany necklace has erased the memory of running up those hills. (Thanks Kim ) I joined the group on the NWM facebook page. I'm kicking myself for not joining the original team. They all received automatic entry for being the largest group for the virtual half earlier this year. I did the run, but never joined the team.

I just saw tons of clothing at the local Nike outlet store with '11 stuff at great prices, but since I didn't run it, I would feel weird wearing it. Beautiful tech shirts etc.

I'm going to put myself in the lottery for this race...I just went back and read this thread to figure out what the group part would do.

It does. And if you enter just by yourself, you have a better shot w/ the full as opposed to the 1/2. Out of the 4 years I tried to get in, the 1 time I did the full, got in, and the 3 w/ the 1/2's no luck. A tip also, after they do the lotto and if you don't get in, join their Nike Challenge or something like that. You have 30 days and all you have to do is use Nike+ to log and load your miles. They'll do another drawing from those who run. And if it's like last year, they'll draw more names end of Aug/early Sept to fill empty slots they have. That's how I got in last year.

Yeah, the group reg definitely helps, a 1 and in is better than 1 by yourself odds.

The bracelet is cute. It has three strands, which are connected on both ends. Two are intertwined leather and metal. The third strand says "I Run To Be". The little dangle charm is the Nike logo on one side and the Hurley logo on the other.

Thanks to Joan4Mickey, I went to the closest Nike outlet. They didn't have any of the clothing, but they had a nice sale on shoes. I bought a pair just to try them out since I haven't worn Nikes in years.
