Nighttime trip?

I want to start off by saying that DS9 and I are LAAAAAAAZY Disney fans. Often times I post that and people don't really get that, they say "Oh, I'm lazy too, I went down for two weeks last year and took a day off in the middle" or "I'm lazy too, we take a two hour nap in the middle". That is not lazy -- that is sensible. My idea of a great "Disney day" is 3 hours in the park, lots of pool time, probably some room service. After a couple of days like that I need a "day off" when I don't go to the park at all.

Anyway, of course this means that we haven't seen much in the way of afternoon entertainment. We've done dinner/fireworks a few times, but only on days when we rested in the morning, no burning the candle on both ends here.

So, I'm wondering what it would be like to do a "backwards trip". We're going down the 3rd week in October and I'm thinking that perhaps our days might look like this.

Don't set the alarm clock, sleep until we wake up.
Go to the pool (we did this a couple of times last time and the pool at the Swan at 11:00 was magical -- we had the whole place to ourselves, no slide lines, no crowds)
Arrive at whatever park has EMH a couple of hours before EMH starts, have a nice leisurely sit down dinner somewhere in said park. Maybe watch a parade or two before dinner some days.
Spend EMH riding the rides, and touring the park, watch the fireworks.
Return to the hotel and go to sleep. DO NOT SET ALARM CLOCK.

Would this work? What are EMH hours going to be like in October -- both crowd wise and what time will they start/end? Will we be out of luck 'cause we missed all the FP's? Will we be stuck in line (we don't like lines, lazy people don't like to stand up that long)? Do they have fireworks on EMH nights?

It will be just DS9 and I.

As of last night when I looked for our Oct/Nov trip - EMH's for Oct. haven't been posted yet.

As for your "schedule" - why not? It's your trip, and if that's how you will enjoy it - great. You'll be on vacation at WDW - there aren't rules for how you spend your time! Enjoy it!

OK, clearly I "can" do this. There are no rules against it. I guess my real question is -- if I do this, what will it be like. Will there be long lines that make me wish I had gone in the morning? Will we actually get to see the fireworks or do they not have them on EMH nights? Will some of our favorites be closed (e.g. I'm pretty sure we can ride most of the rides, but Muppets is a big hit with DS, can we see the Muppets at EMH?)

As a family we were there last Sep., and I was there solo in Jan. Both times EMH were used in the evenings. The big attractions were definitely open. My DDs LOVE the Muppets - we have to go every time. It was open. The only truly LOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG lines we experienced were at the end of the evening waiting for the busses to go back to the resort.

This is exactly how we do Disney. My DH is on 19 medications and some mornings he can hardly get out of bed. He has very little stamina, even with an ECV. And lord help when he takes his Lasix...lets just say we know all the restrooms in WDW. Sometimes it's better for us if we just take our time and get their late. So we have to wait in a few lines? So what? When we get up late, we also eat lunch late so the restaurants aren't nearly as crowded. and when DH poops out in about 3 hours, we go back to the hotel and I read while he naps. Then we get ready to hit one park in the evening, and sometimes we stay for fireworks. It's a very nice way to vacation.

Of course, we have older children who can be trusted to go off by themselves. Our youngest is severely mentally handicapped and does WDW in a w/c, so getting a break in the afternoon is just the thing for him. He is very happy to paddle around in the pool while daddy sleeps.
