Thoughts on whether a kid who needs earplugs/earphones for loud events (fireworks/concerts) would need them for nighttime shows (other than HEA fireworks)? I'm specifically wondering if we would need them for Fantasmic and River of Light, as I've never seen either.

Agree with PP, best to take them just in case. ROL is not overly loud (it cannot be too loud because of the animals). That is, of course, subjective. Not loud to me might be excessively loud to someone else. HEA can get loud as well as illuminations if y'all plan to see it.

I get the ease of carrying earplugs, but last time I tried to use them with my 4year old, he wouldnt leave them along and they kept falling out. So, am faced with potentially having to buy noise cancelling headphones if I need to block out the noise.

If they need them for fireworks at home they will need them for any of the shows that use fireworks at WDW. I would bring them.

Happily Ever After Fireworks - MK: Yes
Fantasmic! - DHS: Yes
Star Wars Fireworks - DHS: Yes
IllumiNations - Epcot: Yes
Rivers of Light - DAK: No

We bring the headphones for my daughter. She loves them. Even wears them in really loud rides like Test Track. I just keep them in my bag. They are big, but worth it. I have even used a carabiner clip to attach them to the outside of my smaller park bag.
