Anyone see this flick, if so what did
you think of it?? I really enjoyed it,
Richard Gere is a great actor!:lovestruc

I liked the movie too. I'm prob gonna go see it today again

I comuted to grad school back in the summer of '05 and since I was taking mini-mesters and going everyday and studying in between, I had NO life. I checked this out @ the library on CD and listened to it while I drove (about 40 min each way) and oh my!!! It (sadly) was the high light of my summer since all I did was study, research and type papers... I loved the book and for a long time couldn't remeber who wrote it or the name of it. About a month ago, I was in Sams and I saw the book and it registered to me that THAT was the book I was like     I read the book in 2 days after work and immediatley got on his web site cuz I wanted to find a discussion about it but what I found was the movie trailer!!!! I was so happy, I only had to wait a month :woohoo: :woohoo:

I loved the book, liked the movie. Of course there are always differences and the book is better in my opinion, but the movie was good too.

I know that there was a lot of poking fun @ it cuz it is such a sappy chick flick but oh well!!

I saw it and LOVED it! Richard Gere and Diane Lane really have a chemistry together!
Richard Gere!

I read the book also, in 2 hrs. Loved it as well. The movie is
somewhat different as most are from the novels but still good.
I hated that the ending was so sad:sad1:

OMG ~ yes I have seen it, I went to the NYC premiere of it. It was one of the most exciting days of my life! I sat not too far from Richard and Diane and it was so bizarre watching them on the screen knowing they were right behind me! I got to meet Richard after the film too - I love him!!! It was a great romance movie, it had me crying at the end.. especially *SPOILER!!!!* when Diane is holding the stuff his son brought over and crying... she is such a fantastic actress.

I agree. That is the only beef I have with Nicholas Sparks, all his books (that I have read) have that "stab you in the heart" ending.... I wish he would write a book where they lived happily ever after. I loved it in the book when he had funded the care for her dad for as long as he needed it.

Go onto his website and read his commentary on the book. It is awesome @ how he tied in things from his life into the story. You will be amazed!!

HOLY COW!!! I second that...HOW DID you get to the premiere??
That had to be the most awesome experience ever!!!!:lovestruc

I want to see it only because Christopher Meloni has a small part in it.

I want to see it because we vacation in OBX often. We ride through Rodanthe on the way to our house every year. It has gotten bad reviews but I think the scenery including Gere would be worth it. I'm glad to hear some positives here. The other thread said it was overly cheesey.

I live right outside of NYC and go to the place the premiere was held - the Ziegfeld Theatre - for a lot of events and someone gave me a pass. :) Here is a pic of it: http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn382/liacapria/kdsjfhksdjfhkajsd/P1040951.jpg

That is totally COOL!! You must have been thrilled beyond
words to get that pass..the golden ticket!!! The biggest
thrill I had of that nature was an invitation to see the final
showing of broadways Beauty&the Beast with Donny Osmond
as geaston, it was such fun!!!:)

I gotta stick my 2 cents in here..... I love Richard Gere movies and Diane Lane is great, so was reallly looking forward to this movie. Read the book and so loved it and thought they'd be great in it--chemistry, etc. BUT I thought the movie left out soooo much of their "weekend" , chemistry and relationship that you didn't feeeeel what they felt and went through that weekend. Yes, it was a good "chick flick" to go see and I'm glad I did and the ending was soooo sad, but.....maybeee I just expected more after reading the book!!! Oh well.......
