Hi All,

We are visiting DL from Oct 18-25, with park days on the 19-24 (5 day hopper, Halloween party on the 22nd) and am just trying to figure out the entertainment- trying to get organized ahead-

I figure we have the following of possibly seeing:
  • Fantasmic- (only seems to be running on the 24th)
  • Disneyland Forever fireworks- (only on the 24th?)
  • Halloween Fireworks- (on the Halloween Party night- the 22nd)
  • Paint the Night- (Every night?)
  • World of Colour- (Every night)
Some Questions:
  • There is no Halloween parade correct?
  • Will there be multiple shows of PTN,WOC or only 1 show? (1 I think?)
  • Any thoughts on which day to use our MM? I'm thinking Tues as Thurs is out (Halloween) and Sat will already be a long day with F! and Fireworks
  • Should we try to do WOC on a day there is a HP party or will it be crazy?

Schedule: Where would you slot things in?
M- (DL closed early for HP)
T-
Wed-
Th- Halloween Fireworks (attending party)
Fri- (DL closed early for HP)
Sat- Fantasmic, Disneyland Forever Fireworks

Thank you so much in advance for your expertise!

F! will only be shown on the 24th while you are there, so plan for that on Saturday Night.
Disneyland Forever should be available on all nights you are there with the exception of any MHP nights (they show Halloween Scrams instead). During the Halloween Season, they announced DF fireworks will be shown...even during the weeknights.
Halloween Screams you can only see during the Halloween Party.
Paint the Night will occur every night, including during MHP (Halloween Cavalcade was replaced with PtN this year).
WoC will be available every night.

Here is what I would plan:
Schedule:
M- (DL closed early for HP) Maybe plan WoC this night since you are not attending the MHP. May want to consider a dining package that gets you into a preferred viewing location.
T- Do your Magic Morning this day - The earlier in your trip you can get it out of the way...the better. You may not want to wake up early by Saturday.
Wed-
Th- Halloween Fireworks (attending party)
Fri- (DL closed early for HP)
Sat- Fantasmic, Disneyland Forever Fireworks

On Tue or Wed, I would try and view Paint the Night from either the hub (if you don't mind staking out a spot early) or by IASW. I would watch the DF fireworks right afterwards.
You can also view the fireworks on Saturday after F! (assuming you see the first show) for a different view, but I would try and see them at the hub or by IASW at some point during the week.
Hope that helps.

F! is usually only presented on Fri, Sat, and Sun during the non-peak season, but given that there is a MHP on Friday, you're only chance will be on Saturday (10/24). DLR announced that Disneyland Forever would be presented nightly during HalloweenTime (except on nights when there was a MHP), so that should be presented on Tues, Wed, and Sat of your visit. Halloween Screams (fireworks) are presented only during MHP (so Mon, Thu, and Fri of your visit). Paint the Night and WoC will be presented nightly.

There is no Halloween parade correct?
Correct, there is no Halloween Calvacade this year. Instead, they'll present PtN at MHP.

Will there be multiple shows of PTN,WOC or only 1 show? (1 I think?)
At this point, it looks like WoC and PtN are only being presented once per night in October (not all days are available yet).

Any thoughts on which day to use our MM? I'm thinking Tues as Thurs is out (Halloween) and Sat will already be a long day with F! and Fireworks
I would opt to use the MM early in the trip when you're likely to have more energy and haven't had as many long nights yet. So I would go on Tuesday morning rather than Thursday morning (um...Thursday isn't Halloween).

Should we try to do WOC on a day there is a HP party or will it be crazy?
There is a noticable uptick in crowds in DCA on evenings when there is a MHP.

Where would you slot things in?
Mon - Given that you have to leave DL anyway, I would head to DCA and try and see WoC.

Tue - I would try to see Disneyland Forever here. Fireworks in DLR can be cancelled due to weather (usually winds in the upper elevation), so it usually best to try and see the fireworks as early in your trip as possible because if they are cancelled, that gives you other nights to try and see them. If you have the energy, I would also try to see PtN here.

Wed - I would use this night to see WoC or to see Fireworks if they were cancelled on Tuesday. If you're watching fireworks, I would try to see PtN here too.

Thu - Halloween Screams at MHP. They haven't said if they'd add anything Halloween-based to PtN for MHP (I doubt it), so I would try to see PtN on a non-MHP night and use that time to do other MHP-exculsive activities.

Fri- Another chance to see WoC.

Sat - This is your only chance to see F!, so I would aim to do that here. If you watch the first F! show, you can check out Disneyland Forever from the F! viewing areas.

You will find a lot of info on dlrprepschool.com too, with suggestions on schedules and all kinds of things you might not even think of.

I've seen that site mentioned a couple of times recently. It's not one that is widely known here, and I'm not sure how long it's been around. Honestly, while I applaud anyone who takes on their own blog or site, and the subject of DLR is always interesting, I don't find the info and details on that site to be anything extraordinary or beyond the norm. It contains very basic info in many of the sections (Halloween Time, for example), as many blogs do. There are many more in-depth, detailed bits of information and discussion here on this forum, in the podcasts and blogs on this site, and on other sites.

she has many in depth blog posts, along with just basic information. It's connected to wdwprepschool. Very detailed information on which fast passes are disconnected, holiday seasons, secret paths, etc. The blog Facebook page is easier to navigate and find what you need. When you go directly to the website you are defaulted to basic Disneyland information. Being an AP holder, I find the constant updates refreshing.

That may be so, but we like for people to stay on our site! We have a great site (welcome, by the way! :welcome: It appears you just joined!), with lots of fantastic threads, blogs, podcasts, etc. A lot of knowledgeable people are here. I just didn't find anything that outstanding or in-depth on that site, but it's subjective, and maybe a bit relative as well. As I said, Disney and DLR are always interesting subjects, but I think I am jaded because there are so many Disney-related sites and we have a lot of really detailed info right here.

I love the Dis. But when I am in planning mode, I read EVERYTHING. I spent a lot of time on DLRPrepschool and her FB page as well as on the Dis when I planned my Disney trip. I like the clear way she lays everything out.

For me, there was plenty of room for both. That said, I used to run a forum and certainly understand how you feel.

There are lots of other sites out there, and sometimes -- if there is something specific that is relevant to our members that we don't have here -- we will refer other sites. I do that a lot, as long as we don't have the info here, or if I think there is something specifically interesting about it that will be relevant to the people in my threads and what we are discussing.

That said, we're not here to promote other sites. We're here to keep people informed and provide details on our own site. Likewise, we don't expect or ask for anyone to promote us on other sites. There is room for everyone, but none of the sites are going out of their way to say, "Hey, you should check out this other site." Everyone wants people to stay on their own site, understandably. I have seen posts on other sites and I could tell that the person commenting got some specific info from one of my threads or from another thread on this forum, but they won't say "I got this on DISboards." That's just kind of the way it is in a field where there are soooooooo many sites covering the same territory. I am usually pretty generous in saying, "I saw this on MiceChat" or whatever, but that is not what people on most other sites will do.

Edited to add: Someone should let whoever it is at dlrprepschool know that she has the incorrect end date for Halloween Time in her Halloween Party/Halloween Time section for 2015. She has it listed as 10/31, but it is actually 11/1 this year!
