Night-train has a virus

Night-train asked me to pass on a message that he - or rather his PC.... has picked up a nasty virus - which is preventing him from logging on to the boards and taking part in the quiz!!!

He wanted me to let you all know - and to watch out for it!!!

he has my total sympathy as I too have had big PC problems and had to get a new hard drive

Which means of course my old one (with all my stuff!!) on it is kaput.

Oh well I'm back online so I'm happy

I think this is a bad addiction - 48 hours without a PC and I was in a proper state!!

get the poor lad to download mcafee stinger from here stinger download

should help him get rid of them. if it doesnt i'll post some instructions on a more complex virus removal method.

Hi everybody!! Me and my 'puter are back and all is well again. As it turns out it wasn't a virus that was to blame after all. The problem was that I had three different anti-virus programs on board to test for the most efficient one and they all took a serious dislike to each other and the end result was that the computer behaved in the same manner as the things they are supposed to prevent! So, as a warning to everybody, don't run AVG6, PC-cillin and McAfee Anti-virus simultaneously, any one but not all three! My computer was out of action for two days but on the plus side, I have learned a valuable lesson!! Boy but it's good to be back!!!

which anti virus are you running now mate? i work with them every day and im point man for infection and removal at my company. so i can probably give you some good advice on the various products.

Decided to stick with the AVG6 free edition as it's the one I'm most familiar with. Also don't like paying for stuff if I can get it for free anyway!! LOL!!

seriously though if you can ever get a free copy of mcafee, then do it.

also maybe a adware scanner. do a google search for ad-aware. their basic scanners free.

Have ad-aware 6 and spybot, also use mcafee personal firewall.
