Night time shows

I'm trying to come up with a reasonable touring plan for our park days - easier said than done. This is our first trip, and while I want to pack as much as possible into it, i don't want to overdo it for my kids (aged 10 & 9). We have 7 nights at CBR, 6 full days and 2 half days for touring. One day will be park-free, and that night we're going to a concert. I'm also planning on getting tickets for a MNSSHP. I think we'll have to miss at least one night time at the parks in order to avoid burnout. What night time show would you skip, and what are your must-sees?

Imo I would skip Rivers of Light. That would be followed by Illuminations. You'll see the Hallowishes if you go to the MNSSHP, I'm sure you have another MK night so you'll see the new Happily Ever After fireworks. I'd strongly recommend watching Star Wars a Galactic Spectacular, it's a great visual/firework show. Depending on the timing that they do you might even be able to get in Fantasmic in the same night.

If you have time also, I'd watch Illuminations. But if I had to skip one night show it would definitely be RoL.

Definitely seeing Star Wars. I think I'm going to buy tickets for the dessert party to celebrate my birthday

I've skipped Fantasmic for the last 15 years and 30+ trips. Star Wars was meh. I haven't seen ROL yet, but can't wait.

I've had a ton of trips where I've watched Illuminations every night of the trip, but my preference is 3-4 day weekends and to go often. I have all the ff miles and no kids, so its a super easy trip for me. I won't miss Illuminations and enjoyed Wishes well enough, but I'm pretty excited about the new show. Illuminations gives me chills EVERY time I see it and sometimes makes me cry, and I'm a bit of a cold hearted you know...

When my kids were those ages they were bored by Illuminations. I enjoyed it, but it's not a must see for me. They enjoyed Fantasmic. Any MK fireworks always a hit. We are looking forward to Star Wars and ROL this time. We chose to do the dessert party for Star Wars, never done one and this one looks delicious (albeit $$)!

We love the nighttime shows AND the parks at night. My kids are 8 and 10 and we close the parks every night. But we will never, ever make rope drop! We sleep in so we've got stamina to last till closing. Also, my boys' favorite show is Fantasmic. If they had to choose one to skip it would be Illuminations (although we haven't seen ROL yet).

Kids your age .... first I would skip is ROL. If you are going to be in AK I think they would rather see Pandora at night and all the cool interactive stuff.

Agree next I would skip is Illuminations unless you plan to be in Epcot that day anyway. They will likely get bored with the "story" but it is fireworks and some fire.

I would see Star Wars (dessert party is a good idea), new MK show and you'll see Hallowishes.

Fantasmic! and MK fireworks are a must for us. I have not seen the Star Wars fireworks or ROL, so cant comment. Although, ROL seems Illuminations adjacent, and Illuminations is the one I'd skip if I had to, so stems to reason ROL as well. These two have no characters in them and no real plot line to follow. Don't get me wrong, I like Illuminations, but it's my least favorite and probably the least interesting for kids.

I'd skip RoL. Having said that I haven't seen it, but I can't imagine skipping Fantasmic!, Hallowishes, the new MK fireworks, or Illuminations. We did see the AK night show they had going on last summer and we would never wait around to watch it again, so while I'm sure RoL is much better; it would be easy for me to feel like I wasn't missing much there.

RoL looks so pretty!! And the ToL Awakenings looks beautiful - that's going to be a must-see for me. I think we'll skip Illuminations, and for sure do MK, Hallowishes, and Star Wars. I think...
