Night Safari?

Has anyone done the Starlight Safari? We'll have a non park day (no tix till the next day) at AKL and wondered if this was a good time. It'd be me, ds 12, dd 15 and her friend, 15.

If you mean at night when it's pitch dark outside, yes, we've done that (we've done sunset too). It's really awesome to see the place in the dark, it's an entirely different experience. I will say that from a "seeing animals" perspective, it wasn't as good simply because it was harder to spot them in the dark. There is some lighting, but it's still a bit of a challenge to see, especially if they're some distance away. I'd still recommend doing it, just so you can get a new perspective of the safari.

i think Klayfish is talking about safari at the park. I am interested in booking the tour you mention. DH and I are dining at Boma on7/6, a non-park day and I saw this . been searching the boards and find no reviews.

Thank you. According to the blog, it looks like the safari is only open to AKL guests. So I called. Anyone can book. Unfortunately, it is booked up for the week I am there. The nice CM tried to sell me the in park safari with tapas and drinks. But, since we don't drink, the cost just wasn't worth it.

If I want to go on the safari near sunset in July, when is the best time to plan on going? I was thinking around 8 pm. Am I close?

10pm is after dark in Orlando in summer, yes.
