So we are 100% night owls and enjoy staying up late (even my kiddos) and as much as we've tried to do rope drop it just isn't in is. It's not who we are, lol. We thrive at midnight, hahaha. I'm looking to plan our next trip and I'm open to any time of year! I want to find a time when the parks are open late but the least crowded time of when the parks are open late, of that makes since, lol.

I would assume that the parks are more likely to be open late during more crowded times - summer, Spring Break, Christmas, etc.

Yeah I know it'll be one of the more crowded times but I'm hoping to find the LEAST crowded time of my crowded time options hahahha

So you want the least crowded "crowded" time? ;) :crowded::crowded::crowded:

Just kidding. You might want to check out prior years' park hours, but understand that's just a guideline and no guarantee of what they will offer year to year.

Spring break- we have gone a number of times in March. The parks are open late, the weather is great! The crowds at 1 am are minimal.

We now do the sleep late, eat at 11/12 and then head for pool or DTD or movies, mini golf in afternoon, or even maybe a couple hours at park. We can take a break in the early eve, have a nice dinner, go to parks late and stay until close. We love the late nights. Next day, the same. I was wondering how people are able to do rope drop and stay for nighttime entertainment even when it's 10/11. None of us can go back and nap and then stay up until 2 and get up at 7 the next day.

Agreed with Spring Break time. Instinct would tell you to stay away, but if you are late night people the MK is almost regularly open until 2am (Epcot sees 11pm many nights). All those folks that arrived at rope drop start to get tired and cranky after dinner. You will see arguments and yelling as families are exhausted and ready to throw in the towel. From 10pm onward it gets quieter and quieter.....and the cast members at the rides get a bit giddier from fatigue and relief that the mood has lightened a bit. We love the late nights that time of year.....just bring a sweatshirt for March evenings!

Yesssss thank you!!! We love a schedule like that!!!

Sounds perfect!!! We get giddier and goofy the later it gets too LOL

My normal life is work 10-6 with some exceptions and I work from home so I am not awake earlier than 9:30. Waking up earlier to be on my feet all day is not a vacation to me so I don't do it. We generally set and alarm for noon to ensure we don't sleep the day away. We wake up when we wake up, generally somewhere between 10 and noon. I like resorts that are smaller (POFQ) so I'll spend some time outside between coffee and smoking sections.. Maybe we get breakfast, maybe we don't. Generally we get to a park somewhere around noon to 3. If we're coming in about noon, generally we're aiming for somewhere to get lunch but a lot of time we eat something light at the resort.

I also do the half park schedule, and the more humid the more it's needed. We might spend 3-5 hours at park and generally take a break and when we go back most of the time it's not the same park and a lot of time it's MK. Basically we divide parks into dark and evening options so we'll see the parks, just not the same day. It works well for us and especially my daughters anxiety. It also lines up with when it generally rains certain times of year. We basically go with the flow.

Planning for us is simple. Pick a resort, get random fastpasses for each day, get 1 or 2 adrs. When we are at WDW, we generally throw it all out because we aren't in the mood for that park that day. We do hit all 4 parks the first 2 days to get the must dos and enjoy being there done, and it lets the rest of the week just be whatever we care about at that moment.

Where you need to watch out is AK and HS. It's a lot of what I call hour long rides. Not the wait but the time the show and rides take to do. Shows tend to not be all day long so you need to go in with that in mind to get the shows out of the way when your in the day if you care about them. AK is also the hottest park to me so that is the exception where if it's not doing it's really late hours you want to keep the sun in mind and that would be the 1 day worth getting up earlier so your done with the park about noon instead of starting it. There will be one day your all just suddenly awake and ready to go, at least that's how it works for us.

So you really want to go when the park hours are the latest and they still have Evening EMHs. If you are in the Magic Kingdom at 1-2 AM the park is empty. You have to pick a summer visit when the hours are the longest.
We rode all the rides in Fantasyland back to back with no wait at 1AM.

I've been labor day week a number of times and its my absolute FAVORITE time of year, still good park hours and there's no one there.

I love being at Magic Kingdom after midnight. Even over Christmas brake there is very little crown after midnight. The only bad thing i can think of is that the food service places all close well before 2am, so plan a o get any food or drinks a bit earlier.
