Niece's graduation party

My DH niece just graduated from high school and we didn't get invited to the party. His mother told me on the internet when she though she was talking to Kevin (dh) She asked if we were going to sil and then proceeded to give excuses why we weren't invited ie she didn't know our address we've just lived here for 10 years to it was our fault and we must have thrown the invitation out. Kevin doesn't care anymore but I think it is terrible.

No history His family are jerks. His own brother didn't invite his dm to his son's first communion.

could be worse-dh's brother (and his wife) never get around to inviting us until the last minute and are then surprised/offended when we won't make last minute plans to attend (christmas dinner 4 days before christmas, thanksgiving 2 days before-college graduation luncheon the DAY before!). we stopped inviting them to most things years ago after they would say they were coming and we planned on it (purchased/prepped food) and they either no-showed or showed up with their kid's each bringing a friend "to keep them company" (silly us, when we invite 4 to dinner we don't always plan meals that can be extended to include 2 or 3 more!).

Yeah and when I said to his mother well I guess that is one less gift I have to buy she had the ordasity (sp) to say oh thats not fair. Tough Lady

WTH... ! My niece grad h.s. last weekend in Maine. Her parents are divorced but my SIS made sure everyONE was there...YUP, her dad, Dad's mom and all ex-DH's entire family down to the cousins. And of course my entire family. Everyone (for the most part) traveled from out of state and got hotels for the event.

THIS WAS ABOUT NIECE..PERIOD!!!

And niece was GLOWING 24/7 as everyone she loves was there for HER!!!

I am sorry, OP, that this has happened to your family.

I have 1 better, DH's brother and sil, never let us know #1 they got married, #2 that she was pregnant...we found out that she was pregnant when we got the mass email that was sent out with sonogram pics. Then had the nerve to get mad when I didnt go to the baby shower. It hurts DH to have his family dislike him because of me (his family doesnt like our age difference im 10 yrs younger than DH), but he says he loves me and hes not willing to give that up

NikiM20 - there's a 10yr age gap between my parents too I'm suprised my dad's family didn't kick up a fuss - my mother came with a ready-made child too (me)!

It't really not fair to your niece, the graduate. Not her fault her parents are jerks... personally, I would acknowlege her graduation to her, gift/card, whatever. Let her know that you are above her parents' behavior.

ITA ! It is NOT niece's fault at all. I posted above about our ENTIRE family being at MY niece's recent graduation.....well let me preface this by saying my SIS (mom of niece) was in MA at my home for Xmas...Sis announces that ex-DH's family "CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT" as far as the graduation goes...my entire family sitting around the dining room table says to SIS, remember this is niece's graduation this is about HER not about YOU!! She looked at all of us and said..."yes, you are RIGHT!" And proceeded to make sure everyone got their INVITE to the party and ALL THE FESTIVITIES.

AND can I say..WOW, it was fabulous as we ALL agreed this was a wonderful day for NIECE!!!
