My three kids consist of DD 13.5 (very mature), DS 12.5 (average maturity), and DS 12.5 (somewhat immature).

2-3 years ago, the kids would beg me to take them to the Nick Hotel during our Disney trips, but it never worked out. I have the opportunity to take them there for a night now (2 days, 1 night).

Will they enjoy themselves or are they a little too old for it now? They will love the pools, but are the other things to do (evening shows, etc.) geared only to the much younger crowd? I'm not looking to purchase extras, such as the 4D shows.

I want to surprise them with it when we travel to FL next week, but only if they're going to enjoy it. Otherwise, I'd prefer to find something different to do which won't break the bank.

I think they will still like it. The shows are actually more for older school aged children. The ones that I have seen are more like the game show style. They will also like the water slides.

The character breakfast would probably be too young for them unless they like that kind of thing.

They will LOVE IT.. the pool/play area is fantastic!!! Don't let the water get in your mouth though it tastes horrible!!

They will still love it. And you will love it because you'll be able to relax in a chair while they run around.

Be sure to sign up for the later shows (10pm -12am) more for the teen age droup.

When I was in Florida, last week, I passed-by the Nick hotel -- given that the exterior of the building had larger-than-life murals of Dora and Diego, I would say this property is NOT geared towards young teens/pre-teens.

That said, I would check with the kiddos and see if this is still "their kind of thing" before you plunk-down money on it.

We have stayed at the Nick Hotel quite a few times, but my boys have always been younger than your's are. They love the place, but we have gotten to HATE it! But that's for another post....
I think your kids will like it. There are lots of older kids at the waterpark (there are 2, so lots of variety) and as previously mentioned, the late night shows are for the older crowd. It IS geared toward smaller children, but I think your kids would have fun too. They do some fun shows in the waterpark daily that are great for tweens/teens. The projects they have though (like decorating a small bag or other crafty things), will be much too young for them. Here's a link to the calendar if you haven't checked it out. http://atyourschool.youritdept.com/nickhotel/jsp/Calendar.jsp?GROUP=B&TIME=Y When you arrive, you'll get a more detailed calendar for each day of your stay. I see you can view this weeks online also at: http://www.nickhotel.com/images/pdf/orlando-hotel-script.pdf
Hope that helps a little!

Thanks for the links, doclegler. I was planning to stay on a weekday in order to save $20, but I didn't realize that one of the pools/waterparks is closed during the week and most of the nighttime shows aren't done during the week. Now I'm considering a Thursday instead, since it's still the weekday rate, but at least there are two shows at night instead of just one. The second pool won't open until late afternoon on Friday though.

The hotel says check-out is at 11am and you can stay at the facility until 1pm. Does anyone knows if the 1pm rule is enforced or would it be easy for us to hang around later on Friday?

Thanks for the great info. We leave in about 3 weeks and I am taking my DD and DDBFF who are both 13 (mature 13). They looked at the web site and thought it looked great. I was afraid it would be too "young" for them. I also got and excelent price ($79 per night) through Travel Zoo. :cool1:

I am hoping they have fun there.

I've never seen them throw someone out of the pool area. On our check-out day we had booked a cabana and stayed until at least 4 pm with no problems.

I just wanted to remind you that there is $25 resort fee on top of that. Still a great rate, I just didn't want you to be surprised!
