We are travelling in July with 6 total people-my husband and myself and our 3 kids ages 10, 6 and 1 and my adult sister. My 10 year old son is dying to stay at the Nick Hotel but I noticed on the website that the room is only 475 sq feet. We will be staying our first night at a Marriott Residence Inn, followed by 7 nights on-site at Saratoga Springs then I was thinking of the Nick Hotel for our last 3 nights. But will we be cramped in the room? And the bunk beds (or twin beds) are in an alcove of sorts, correct? So there's really no privacy from the kids (at least for the person sleeping on the living room sleeper sofa). Or is there a better room configuration for us?

We stayed in a "2 bedroom" Dora suite in Dec. 07. It had one bedroom with a king size bed, and the 2nd "bedroom" was more like an alcove - there was no door on it. So, you are right, there is no privacy. We had a mini-fridge and sink, living area, and full bathroom. I imagine 3 adults and 3 kids would definitely be cramped. Our room seemed a little run-down too. On the positive side, the pool area is fantastic! Since we were there in Dec., only one area was open, and it was quite a walk from our room, but it was great. We only stayed 2 nights, and that was enough. They also have a character breakfast buffet with Dora, Diego, SpongeBob, Blue, and Squidward. The food was very average, but since it was December, there were only about 2 other families there, so we got a lot of character interaction.
Hope that helps!
