My son REALLY wants to stay at the Nick Hotel so we are thinking of staying 3-4 days at the beginning or end of our visit. My son's and husband's birthdays are both during our visit so we will stay either July 19-22 or July 26-30 to take advantage of their birthday night free promotion. Looks like I can get a slightly better rate July 26-30. If we stay only July 27-30 (maximizing the value of their pay for 2 nights and get your birthday night free), paying 2 nights at $299 and getting 1 night free ends up being $199/nt. If we stay 4 nights it averages out to be $215 a night. Is this a good rate for the Nick Hotel at this time of the year? 12.5% tax plus the $20 per day (even on the free day) resort fees are additional. I was hoping to combine either a AAA or Entertainment card discount using the free night but we must pay a higher rate to qualify for the free birthday night. Even $199 seems like alot for me to pay to stay here (this is more than we paid to stay on-site at the Beach Club a few years back) and before this property was the Nick Hotel, I remember reserving it for around $100/nt (but we changed our mind and stayed someplace else). They even included the free breakfast then too. But with our kids being 9, 6 and 1, hopefully this will be a good place to be.

Added in tax and the resort fee and the total per day (if we stay for 4 nights) ends up being $264. Is this a good rate for this time of year? And if you have seen cheaper rates at other times of the year, what have they been? If substantially cheaper, my husband suggested we appease my son by telling him we will go another time soon on a return visit. My complimentary hold expires Saturday afternoon. I would just reserve it w/out a second thought but they do charge my credit card for the first night ($299 plus tax, I think?) and then if I cancel I will get a refund to my credit card.

I think $199 is just an ok rate. If your dates are more flexible and not fall on the weekend than I would wait. I almost stayed there last summer booking for $125/night for early August but canceled last minute. I found this rate over Easter. Check with Travelzoo frequently. Prices tend to fall as the date approaches.

We're staying there Febuary 18th to the 22nd at $99 a night for a one bedroom. I was not charged a night when I booked. As already stated, Travel Zoo is a great resource for low rates at this hotel.

How far in advance does Travelzoo offer their deals? I think the one up now only goes through Feb. Has anyone seen a Travelzoo deal for summer months?

Last year we stayed here for three nights. I waited until about a month before we went to make my reservation. I ended up paying over $250.00 a night (two bedroom kid suite with bunkbeds). The advance reservation rates were gone. I looked everywhere for discounts and there just weren't any.
