Hello to everyone out there on the boards. This is my first time posting a message. And I am a bit nervous. I don't want to bore you, and yet I have this undeniable need to tell you about my background and what brought me to your site. I have been lurking for a while now and have read so many of your posts about the DVC which have all been so helpful. If it weren't for you guys, I probably wouldn't have been able to talk my husband into buying at SSR.

I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the information necessary and the guts to take the plunge into this wonderful adventure. I read all the posts about being on the fence and I am one of those you helped in making a decision. It has been a dream of mine for a long time and you folks have encouraged me to bring it to fruition. Thank you. And Howdy Neighbors!!!! :wave2:

Welcome Home Brigitte and Welcome to the DVC DIS board. This is a great place to hang out and get as much information about planning and staying at a DVC property. There are MANY knowledgable people here and any time a question arises, I ask and know that I will get an honest and detailed answer!!!

Congratulatins on your new investment.....you won't be sorry!

Hope to see you "home" someday..............

WELCOME HOME !!!

And Welcome to the DIS, the BEST Disney site on the WEB.
You will NOT regret your purchase, except soon you will wish you had more points. That's a sickness most of use share, add-on-itis.

What part of PA are you from? We're just west of Philly.

Don't be nervous posting here, everyone is friendly and we all have a common bond, DVC and Disney.

Contratulations, and Welcome Home!!!

You know, I cringe every time I see someone on these boards with a signature that shows on-site stays at WDW 2 or 3 times per year, and realize that the individual is NOT a DVC member. I guess if someone wants to pay full price to spend 3 weeks per year at the Grand Floridian or AKL, then so be it. But you have to wonder if some of these folks just haven't taken the time to find out about DVC.

Glad you came over to the light side. :)

:) Thank you so much for welcoming me w/ open arms to the Dis Boards and DVC. I couldn't wait to receive a "Congratulations" or "Welcome Home". Now I feel like a true member.

To Bill in PA: I am from Central PA, just west of Hbg. It's nice to know I have a DVC neighbor here in PA. Do you mostly fly down or drive? We fly, but that gets expensive, esp. now that we are adding on to the family. But my husband refuses to waste precious time driving when he could be in Disney. Where is your membership? And thanks for reaching out to me.

Congratulations and welcome home!

DVC is perfect for the planner type of people, you will love it!

Hi,

Welcome home!!

Allison an associate

 To tjkraz: Thanks for the welcome. I so loved hearing from you. And I love the picture of your wife and son and have read many of your posts throughout the past couple of weeks because I remember seeing that picture and visualizing your wife speaking to me directly as I was lurking. I didn't read that it was your wife until today. But I did remember her face and how helpful your posts were to me in my decisions. So I should thank you directly for your helpfulness in swaying my husband into taking the plunge. I also noticed my son has the same exact shirt. How old is your son? He's beautiful.

:wave2: To rbuzzotta : Thank you for your welcome. It really means the world to me to communicate w/ those who love the DVC. With my husband working such LONG hours and w/ the new baby, I am sure (w/ my long-winded intro) that you realize how hungry I am for adult conversation. And Disney and the DVC are such nice topics, aren't they? I am sure I'll be "picking many brains" in the near future.

THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING THE TIME TO MAKE THIS ONE NEW MEMBER FEEL SPECIAL!

Welcome and Congrats !!!!! I can understand your husbands situation, we too have a small construction company but I am lucky and have 2 brothers involoved with me so it's easier to get away. I too worked when my sons were younger because I did not feel I should leave. I have definitely changed my ways and have enjoyed some great vacations with my family. You were worried if 200 points were enough? You if get the bug like everyone else here you will eventually do an add-on and buy more points. Until then enjoy your family trips and continue to post, we love to have new people join the boards.

Welcome home!!! My husband also works all the time, it is nice to know that we will take a vacation yearly.

To Terry, Tinkgrl, Nick and Cindy, Mom2rb, and disny4ever:

Thank you soooo much for your kind welcome. I am not used to posting yet and I am practicing as I type. But I loved reading your replies and wanted you to know how much I appreciate your friendly messages. I know now that I am not alone w/ the spouse working constantly problem. It seems as though most members of the DIS take several vacations a year and I am soooo envious. But maybe we will too, once we add on to those points. I hear it doesn't take long. Here I am talking about adding on and we haven't even made our first trip home yet. It is a disease isn't it? It's nice to know I have such wonderful neighbors. Again, many thanks.

You have found the right place for your disney obsession!

Personally, one obsession that I am not looking to cure! Except of course by finally becoming a member of DVC this year too. Congratualtions on your purchase of SSR. Welcome to the DIS too!
::yes::

Welcome Home!!!

I hope you love DVC as much as I have (not to mention the rest of my family).

Yes, DVC is definitely for planners. So when in 2004 are you going? If December again - make sure that you make your reservations in January - December is a very, very popular time with DVC members - as I am sure you have read.

I think the Dis still has its convention during that time and so do other websites (bad, aren't I).

It is a great time to be in the parks!!!

 Welcome home neighbor! We're not only DVC-Saratoga Springs neighbors but we don't live too far from each other. I have a Carlisle address but its on the Mechanicsburg side. I grew up in Paxtonia and I went to school at Central Penn College in Summerdale.

And don't worry there is alot of Disney fanatics out there, some even closer then you think!

Welcome home, and thank you for introducing yourself and your family so thoroughly!

To MJTinNH: Thank you for your kind note. I hope you get to become a member very soon. It makes me so humble to know there are still those of us who aren't members yet. I thought I was the last one. I'll be rooting for you.

To spiceycat: That makes me feel so much better that it is for planners. I read some of the posts of people who plan several future vacations years in advance, and I haven't done that yet, but boy do I feel the urges to do so. I keep thinking it's because I don't go often so when I do, I want to make sure I do everything my heart desires. I just love to plan and daydream about my future vacations w/ my husband and family.

As to your comment about December...... I am really worried. I have read the other posts and I was hoping they would guarantee me a spot at Saratoga because I was a member. Guess that isn't the case. We go partly because of the decorations and value season, but mostly because my husband can only get off around that time of year. He works the business for 9 mos. and plows snow in the winter mos. So December is a pretty safe bet that he won't be plowing and so we go then. I am so afraid of calling to make reservations and not being able to do so because I don't know of any other time we can go. I have checked this year as a nonDVC member (hoping to visit this Dec, but my husband took the rebate instead... at least we're owners....no complaints) and there were several DVC villas available to nonmembers as of Oct. That is what got me started into pushing my DH (yeh! my first abbreviation) into buying instead. I showed him price comparisons of the DVC vs. cash and sold him on the idea that it was much better just to buy since we were going to visit eventually anyway (I worked him over hard). Is that just a fluke this year to have available units? Because from what I've read on the boards, it is. Yikes!!!

To cjacobs: Why "Hello" there neighbor in both locations! I am in Enola, closer to Mechanicsburg than Marysville. I am in Silver Spring Township and live right off of Wertzville Rd and 114. My kids will be going to Cumberland Valley School District. My husband is originally from Mechanicsburg, me Harrisburg (yes, I crossed the river) and I went to Penn State University. My husband and I met at Round Top.... that is what swayed me to the West Shore. Where'd you go to High School? I started at Southside Elementary and went to CD East. It's so nice to meetcha!!!

To all of you out there: Instead of beginning a new thread, I thought I would just ask how to put a countdown under my signature? And I noticed some of you have pictures under your name, how do I go about doing that? I tried to copy and paste a picture of my son underneath my name, but it wouldn't work. Thanks ahead for your insight.

Thank you for saying so Bobbi. I really laid myself out there, but I feel as though I've gotten to know a lot of you over the past couple weeks when I was lurking and thought it was only fair to tell you everything about me since I was sneaking around reading about you kind folks. In order to plunge in, I may as well plunge, right?!? I wanted to get it out right from the get go so I can seem like an old friend to you all. I wanted you all to know me as well as I know you. Hope you don't think it was egotistical to be so thorough, but I was so excited to receive my activation that I wanted to tell the world. Now I can get the hang of all this and move forward. And no one has to wonder from where I came. I promise to be more succinct in the future. I appreciate your welcome post and hope to be chatting w/ you in the future.
