Welcome to the DIS ... and ...

WELCOME HOME!!

Thank you very much Doc. It is so nice to hear from you. You have been most helpful w/ all of my decision making. I appreciate your warm welcome.

Welcome Home Bridgette!! And welcome to the DIS DVC boards! As a planner you will really enjoy being on these boards!

And as another mother of a young child you really will appreciate the kitchen, washer/dryer etc. on your vacation all while being in the heart of WDW!! Not to mention the space available in your villa to let you children roam around without hitting a bed every few feet.

Enjoy your membership!!

To BillPA: Thank you so much for the PA link. I will thoroughly enjoy reading thru it. I have many college buddies from your area. I went to PSU and so I am always traveling to the Phila area for weddings, baby showers, etc. My husband's family are from that area as well, and we attend many family gatherings in the Mt. Laurel area. Far from you, but I've driven past West Chester more times than I can count. Lovely area.

To MinnieGi: Thank you for the warm welcome. Things do change once you become a mother I guess. I loved the concierge ammenities, but I love the microwave and fridge, coffee maker and w/d much much more. It was so nice to hear from you and hope to be posting w/ you in the future.

Hi everyone!

I think I have made a boo boo. I have been responding to all of your generously kind posts via another post and I think they might be construed as personal messages. Hope the DIS police don't arrest me. I have received a PM from someone and I realized that is what I should be doing rather than wasting space on the boards. I apologize to any I have offended. Hope this gets me off the hook.

Thanks to all for your patience.

Bridgette,

Congratulations and Welcome Home

And welcome to our friendly little community on the DIS! When I first found this site I was so amazed at how generous everyone was with their information I decided to support it.

I grew up in Mechanicsburg, so also a very big welcome to a fellow central Pennsylvanian. My wife grew up on the Main Line and we now live in northwestern Chester County.

WELCOME HOME Neighbor!
DH and I just moved from Enola 3 mos ago so we really were neighbors (we lived on Sherwood Circle right off Wertzville). Sounds like you definitely made the right decision and I'm sure your family will have many happy memories from the trips to come!

BTW - did you know that Enola is Alone spelled backwards.....;)

Where'd you go to High School? I started at Southside Elementary and went to CD East.

I graduated from CD High in '82 and I now work for the district as Supv. of Graphic Services. My 16 yr. old DS goes to Cumberland Valley HS. It's a small world after all!!!

I think SSR looks great and for us it is a perfect location. It's hard to get my son out of Disney Quest! What made you decide to buy into SSR instead of the other DVC resorts?

Wow!!! We were rival High Schools! Not really.... I went to CD East Jr High and all of my best buddies went to CD. I was just on the other side of the line and therefore went to East. It was a bummer for me, but I managed. I graduated in 88, just 6 yrs behind you.

I LOVE the VWL theming and wanted to buy there, but the timing wasn't good and my husband decided to invest that money in the mkt instead (it's all gone by the way). Then I fell in love w/ the BCV and their clean and bright theming and their closeness to EPCOT, but the maintenance fees scared my husband off and we figured we would just pay as we go. Then we had kids. And we found out just how important it was to have the appliances w/ little ones. We read the financial reports posted and decided it WAS the right time for us.

We decided on SSR because of several reasons: the decor and coloring (green walls, granite looking countertops, and dark woods) is just like my home in PA, and the extension in the deed to 50 yrs helped (even though we'll be very old by then), and the rebate of $10 a point if bought by the 31st clinched the deal. We don't mind liveliness so Downtown Disney is fine w/ us. And the pool theming sounds awesome. And I figured we can always stay at the appropriate DVC resort as our kids grow. Maybe while they are young we'll stay at VWL and vist the MK or at the BCV so we can walk to MGM to see Buzzy and Woody. Then when they are in their teens stay at Saratoga and do Disney Quest as you will be doing w/ your son. I think Saratoga looks incredible and I am sure I won't regret buying there, but I was so happy to just become a member, I don't think I would've cared where we bought. Didn't matter to me and according the DIS, they are all wonderful. Thanks for contacting me. I hope I answered your questions.

Hi Brigitte ~
Welcome Home....you're among friends here. Also, "hello" to a fellow Pennsylvanian. :goodvibes I live just 30 minutes north of Philly. I also went to PSU from '80-'84.....go Nittany Lions.
I enjoyed reading your post and hope you'll lurk no more ! Enjoy your first vacation in 3 years in 2004. I'm sure SS is beautiful even though I haven't had the opportunity to see it in person. The pics make it look wonderful.

 To tjkraz: Thanks for the welcome. I so loved hearing from you. And I love the picture of your wife and son and have read many of your posts throughout the past couple of weeks because I remember seeing that picture and visualizing your wife speaking to me directly as I was lurking. I didn't read that it was your wife until today. But I did remember her face and how helpful your posts were to me in my decisions. So I should thank you directly for your helpfulness in swaying my husband into taking the plunge. I also noticed my son has the same exact shirt. How old is your son? He's beautiful.

You're very welcome. Andy was 18mos when that photos was taken--he's about 31 mos now. I have the same shirt myself. I'm sure there are a few photos of the two of us in our matching shirts floating about the house.

With regard to your question on booking for next December, I wouldn't worry too much. All four buildings in the first phase will be open by August '04. That's a minimum of 190+ rooms--even more if the lockoff 2Bs are rented as a 1B and a Studio.

And, remember they're still selling ownership in building #2. So, come January you will basically have less than 2 buildings worth of owners able to book stays in all 4 buildings.

Call at the 11-month window and I'm sure you will have no problems. Book day-by-day if it will make you more comfortable. But it won't be like booking breakfast at Cindarella's Royal Table where the ressies are all gone 15 minutes after the phones open.

Welcome to you and you family. This is a wonderful community of knowledgeable, friendly folks. My Mom just sent me a newspaper article on WDW, and my husband laughed and said "You know that all already, don't you?" Of course I did -- I had read it all here, weeks ago!

We are headed to Orlando in less than 2 weeks and I can't WAIT to see the Saratoga model. My parents live in Easton, PA (home of Crayola Crayon factory!) and are flying down to meet us. We will go again in March for Spring Break, then in June when DH has a conference in Orlando. There's a wonderful sense of happiness that comes with knowing you have more than 1 Disney trip planned! That's the fun of DVC...

Welcome!

:Pinkbounc Hello Brigitte,
Welcome Home & Congratulations on your purchase of SSR

Your family will enjoy the years to come in DVC accomodations..
Reading your post makes me smile and remember when my two
boys were little and I was a stay at home mom. I remember needing adult conversation. Thank goodness for home computers. I didn't have one back then. My youngest turns 18 in a week. I admire you for staying at home with your two children. In today society's most woman work because they choose to or have to. It does get lonely at times. So our little corner of the world here should make it fun at nap time...
Again Welcome..

Bridgette,

Welcome aboard. With your first post being today and with the number of posts that you are up to already up to (mid twenties), you should have over 1000 by Christmas. All that pent up lurking is coming out. ;) Have fun.

Thank you for the helpful tips. My husband, the kids, and I just came back from dinner and I was telling him about the difficulty of getting ressies for the first 2 weeks of December. I feel a whole lot better after reading your post and feel I have a little more control in the ressie area. You all know how much of a control freak I am by now. It sounds like, w/ a little prior planning, I'll be just fine.

Thank you Colleen for your wonderful welcome. I am so envious of your trips to WDW but I am also thrilled for you. I will be thinking of you on vacation in 2 weeks and I hope you have a wonderful time! And it is nice to know sooo much! I just have to take a breath and calm myself down lest I scare the DH. Both kids are sound asleep and the husband is on the couch asleep as well. And I am here w/ you guys. I've already caught the bug.

Thank you July for the warm memories of your past w/ your boys. I am glad for this computer, but this is the first time I have ever communicated w/ anyone online, other than my e-mails once in a while to family. So this is soooo new to me. I love the comraderie and support and the common love we all have for Disney and it's so nice to meet fanatics like myself. I have spent many wonderful vacations w/ my family growing up at WDW and Disney had made me a better person. I am at home w/ the kids and it is a very difficult job. My lesser job is to do the accounting and payroll for my husband's construction business, but I get to work out of the home and I get to be with my kids. And I count my blessings every single day. Nap time is only 2 to 3 hours though for the 2 yr old DS and I am trying to figure out how to get my office work done and read all these wonderful posts in that short time period. What was that movie w/ Michael Keaton? Multiplicity. That's what I need... a clone.... so I can do all this fun stuff and still get my work done.

Nick at Vero Beach: LOL! Where do you get these great smilies? You're a man of few words and yet you say soo much.

Thanks Cat for your Welcome Home. I have been reading everyone else's Welcomes and Congrats and so wanted to be on the receiving end of those and here I am. It took me so long to get activated because my e-mail address didn't work and I was going crazy reading the boards and wanting to jump in. I will have a good nights sleep tonight knowing I am now a member. I am very pleased to meetcha.

To all of you out there... I hope I was able to get in touch w/ each of you who responded to my post and thank you for making me feel at home. I am having so much fun meeting such a great group of people. With all of the scariness in the world right now, it's so nice to be able to reach out to others and find an abundance of such kind and generous people out there. Thank you for taking the time to approach me with information and well wishes. Good night to you all.
