Nice, safe, reasonably priced hotel on I-Drive?

Hi everyone,

I am going to a workshop in May. Since it is over my birthday weekend, I have asked my mom to join me. We have a room at Pop Century because I figured it would be a decent price (it is) and I'd get my disney fix. My mom does not feel comfortable driving around the area alone - very bad sense of direction - so I will have the car and she will be on her own for 2 days. The workshop is at a resort off International Drive - International Palms Resort and Conference Center. It looks decent but I'm not totally impressed plus, I'm worried about things for my mom to do while I'm gone during the day. So I'm looking to see if there are any resorts in the area off International drive, between sea world and universal, that are nice, reasonably priced for what you get, and have some things to do within walking distance.

Go to hotwire, type in Disneyworld and go to a four star condo option if it comes up it will say something and I drive south. It is the Sheraton Vistana Village and super nice hotel and close to Sea World. Worth just staying there for two days. The price for us in May was 69 for a one bedroom condo.

No matter where you stay on I-Drive, you can get a pass for the I-Drive Trolley; you can even get the I-Drive Trolley to the outlets, great shopping! Here is the link, http://www.internationaldriveorlando.com/iRideTrolley/index.asp

When we walk on I-Drive, we always park by Friday's and Bahama Breeze, and there are lots of hotels down that way, can't recall any specifically. But if you look at the I-Drive map it will outline everything all the way down.

It seems pretty safe in that area, lots of pedestrians. I've heard good things about Floridays, not sure what the price is.

Vista Cay resort is fantastic but your mom would probably need a car or have to get a taxi. I know for $10 you can go down to I-Drive area. Owners rent at www.vistacayrent.com. Also will see these places on VRBO and Home Away. There is a Publix store, Chinese Restaurant, NYPD Pizza within walking distance. There is a 10,000 sq. ft. Clubhouse with wonderful amenities, great pool, great walkway around the lake, etc. You might want to check those places out as well.

Lots of places to choose from, that's for sure.

I've been doing some searching and I found the Hilton Garden Inn, Sea World for $77 a night with a AAA discount including full breakfast every day. Even with a ticket to sea world, it comes out cheaper than our stay at Pop, including a ticket. And I'd be way closer to my conference hotel. Anyone hear about this Hilton?

Besides SeaWorld there isn't really much to do within walking distance but she can take the trolley up and down International Drive, which will keep her busy for days.

We booked the Double Tree Castle for $69 through travelzoo.com. I was also able to add my HiltonHHonors account # for full points, seeing as double tree is part of the hilton family.

I just stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn,paid $46 through Priceline,but your deal seems much better as the hotel doesn't have free breakfast and it's like $12 for a full breakfast and $8 for continental and if you're also getting a free Sea World ticket that sounds like a good deal.The hotel is pretty good,I wouldn't say great since it has no free breakfast but it's in a great location and even walking distance to Sea World.

Sounds like you can't go wrong with that deal...never stayed there, but I really do like the Hilton chain of hotels.
