Just looking for some advise, feedback or reviews. My son will be performing in The Nationsal Ballet of Canada's Nutcracker over the Christmas holidays. For the past two years we have rushed home (3 hours) for Christmas. I'm thinking of finding a reasonable priced resort/Inn within a 1-2 hour drive from Toronto that would be nice to celebrate Christmas. It is just me and DD17 and DS13
He usually only gets 3 days off.

Have you considered the hotels & Inn's at Niagara on the Lake? It's a beautiful small town about 90 minutes from Toronto on Lake Ontario. Very quaint.
My favourite place to stay is The Oban Inn at Niagara on the Lake. It is beautiful, especially at the Holidays.

The Vintages group have a variety of properties in Niagara on the Lake as well. The Pilar & Post, The Prince of Wales and Queens Landing. All lovely.

Will be driving from Toronto and Back again. I don't want this to be too much of a budget stretcher either. Looking for somewhere with lots of Christmas/winter type activities for the kids and a Christmasy atmosphere.

The Briars looks good, scared about the price though!

I'd recommend the Briars too. I stayed there a couple of years ago in the fall. I found it to be fairly priced for what you get (but I did stay off season).
White Oaks Resort in Niagara on the Lake. It's right off the highway so really convenient to get to.
In Mississauga there is the Glenerin Inn.
