somewhere between New Jersey/Delaware thru Virginia? Friends & I are planning to drive down to Virginia in July with our stay starting on a Sunday. We plan to leave Saturday to get a jump on our vacation....

Any recommendations on where to stay close to the coastal route for 1 night?

the ocean city/ cape may area is fun if even for 1 night

Cape May is nice and so is Rehobeth (sp?) beach in Delaware. If you stay in Cape May I'm almost certain you can take a ferry to Delaware and continue driving down to VA.

The ferry goes from Cape May to Lewes Beach (I think), which is just south of Rehoboth. There is also Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach all in the same row there, but not many hotels. Once you get to Ocean City, MD, there are so many hotels you'll hardly believe your eyes!
