Nice dinner place for just DH and I

We are headed to Disney in February with the kids, and DH's dad and family are meeting us there just for one of the weekends. They haven't seen their grandkids in 3+ yrs (they live in FL, we live in WA) and Dh and I are hoping to get a night out alone to go to dinner while they take the kids out for some grandparent time...

Where should we eat? Dh will be on his R&R so we won't have seen each other in 8 months by that point... so I would love to have it be something really special. We both love EPCOT - so something there would be nice. Is there something that might be more "adult" without many families? Don't get me wrong - I have 3 kids of my own so I have nothing against families, but this will be our first "date" in a LONG time - LOL!

Thanks for any suggestions! We really love any kind of food... and we've been there any times before, but have never had a chance to be without the kids for an evening.

My recommendations
. . . Bistro de Paris, Epcot, France, upstairs
. . . Shula's, Dolphin
. . . Il Mulino, Swan

NOTE: Since none are DDP, you will have a quieter eatery with few kids, plus great food.

I'd suggest Bistro de Paris. We've dined there twice and loved it both times. It's more upscale than the downstairs restaurant. IMO this is the #2 restaurant in all of WDW only behind V&A. ::MinnieMo

I agree with Rusty Scupper, but I'd add BlueZoo at the Dolphin to that list. That's DH & my favorite restaurant.

Any place that does NOT take DDP will be your better bets. The Swan & Dolphin are close to Epcot & the restaurants there are very good & more adult oriented.

If it doesn't HAVE to be Epcot and you want something absolutely special, there is no other option other than Victoria and Albert's. The food is amazing and nothing else at WDW can match it for service and atmosphere!!

We really love Narccossee's. You could make a reservation during Wishes. They dim the lights and pipe in the music. The waiters basically take a break during the fireworks so they aren't moving around and distracting diners.

I agree with all of those! There is also V&A's which does not allow children under 16-years old (I think that's the cut off). Any of the Signature dining locations have fewer children than their 1TS credit brothers and Citrico's and Narcoossee's at the GF and Jiko at AKL have fewer still.

If you want a guarantee or strong chance of dining without young children around you, you have to go somewhere that is not on the dining plan. Even the signatures will have children there and any one of them can be horribly noisy depending on the diners there that evening.

There is nothing that compares to V&A but if you don't want to commit to that much money or that amount of time (our dinners run about 3 hours there), I would choose Bistro de Paris second. Although it's in Epcot, it doesn't take the dining plan and doesn't have a children's menu in order to discourage young diners.

After that, I would suggest one of the restaurants at the Swan or Dolphin right by Epcot. I have not dined at Shula's but bluezoo and Il Mulino are very nice.

The only reason I'm remissed to suggest Shula's is because you haven't seen your DH in 8 months. Shula's is so dark, you may not see him at dinner. lol

I'd add Jiko at AKL to V&A and Bistro de Paris. We didn't see many kids there on either of our trips - it may be a bit too adventurous for most (and the ones who would enjoy that cuisine knew how to behave in a fine restaurant!).

V&A is absolutely lovely and and the atmosphere is elegant. It seems stuffy on the surface, but we would not consider ourselves to be stuffy people and we were very comfortable there.

Bistro is very good a well, although nowhere close from a food perspective -but a bit less formal and still adult in atmosphere.

Jiko - food was excellent, but a bit more of a busy atmosphere.

GO PHILLIES!!!

Another possibility is to hire a pontoon cruise and have dinner catered on board....for romance you can't beat that!

My husband and I had a really nice meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse one year.. it was delicious and hardly any kids were there.

My fussy vegetarian DD LOVED the kids meal at Jiko's. It was PB&J on rainbow colored bread. So cute!

My #1 pick for any special occasion....Shulas at the Dolphin Hotel. Cold water lobster and a nice medium rare filet with a bottle of wine. After dinner take a sroll to the Boardwalk area for some nighlife activities. Enjoy your trip. :cool1::banana:

We absolutely love Narccossee. It is at the GF, but nice and quiet. We were seating right at the window and was able to watch wishes at night. I also have to say we have eaten at many of the signature restaurant and did not have a bad meal. Artist Point was a another favorite.

Well said!:thumbsup2 Any restaurant on the DDP can be loud and full of kids at any point, including the signatures. We also like Bluezoo at S/D as well. We will be dining at Bistro in December while the kids are with a sitter. I only hope it's quiet, as I have heard of some parents dining there and asking for the kid's menu items from Chefs de France downstairs (Bistro has no kids menu). Of course there is Victoria and Albert's but that is a very special and expensive dinner, but worth every penny! Enjoy your dinner.:)

For elegance and a wonderful quiet meal, I would suggest Citricos.
I would probably not suggest Jiko for romance because when DH and I went there last year, we had a table for 2 squeezed between two other tables. I swear the other tables were less than an arms length away and we could hear every word of conversation from both sides.
