looking to go in April. Looking for clean, safe accomadations somewhere on the east coast of Florida...we don't want to go over the top with price. Any suggestions for Daytona beach shores, Lauderdale by the Sea or any others. Thanks

Coco is the best, safest and it is closer to Orlando. Free
parking and bath houses is a plus.
I was real disapointed with Daytona.

Cocoa Beach is fine. We stayed there last year and really enjoyed the few days we had there. It is very similar to all other Atlantic Coast beaches in that it is very commercialized with lots of restaurants, gas stations and a "beach" shop on every corner. The beach itself was okay (I've seen better). We stayed at the Doubletree here which was a fine hotel for what we needed. Right on the beach.

We stayed at Daytona Beach Shores in 1995 for spring break and enjoyed that too. It was much nicer than Daytona Beach with far fewer people crowding the beach. But it is a nice plus that all the stuff to do in Daytona is just a very short ride up the road. We stayed at the Holiday Inn here which was being remodeled at the time (HI had just bought it from Days Inn). It was a very nice hotel too.

One nice thing about Cocoa like Popy said is its proximity to lots of different attractions. If you are thinking about going to the Space Center you are maybe 15 minutes or so away from it here. Around 45 minutes to 1 hour to Orlando.

I have only been to the Beaches in the Melbourne area and think that they are really nice!
