Any recommendations for a nice beach day in Nassau? Also safe transportation? Thanks!

Disney does an excursion to Blue Lagoon, and they have a nice beach and a closed lagoon for swimming. Many areas on Junkanoo beach, which is the public beach are very nice. You also might look into getting a day pass at either the colonial Hilton, or the Melia. The Hilton is an easy walk from the port.

I would suggest doing the excursion to Atlantis with lunch organised by DCL. Our family did it last week on the Dream.

Getting from the boat to the resort and back is well organized/no problem; the the lunch is decent; the beach is beautiful.

FYI: I would go to Pisces for lunch, included in the Atlantas excursion - it has good fried chicken - or - fish option we liked.

We went on Blue Lagoon beach day via Disney. We chose it over Atlantis because I heard sometimes the Atlantis beach is closed because of choppy waters. Blue lagoon was very nice and since the lagoon is mostly closed off, the water was perfectly calm even though the water was crazy choppy that day. They had lots of beach loungers and hammocks and a place you could rent additional water bikes and stuff. Lunch is included but was just plain American fair like burgers and such. We just ate when we got back.

We've done Atlantis and it's nice but lately we have been staying on the ship. Recently we tried Junkanoo beach and are most likely going to do it again next month. We stop at the straw market first, head to the beach for a bit and hit up the brewery on the way back :)

You can also get a day pass to British Colonial Hilton and use their beach. They have plenty of loungers and umbrellas and a very calm beach. I think it's $60 for an adult, but it includes a $40 resort credit for food and drink, so if you're planning on having lunch and an umbrella drink or two it works out pretty well. It's $30 for kids, but I don't remember if there was a resort credit included in their tickets.

It's about a ten minute walk from the ship, and the service was good too. The resort also provides buckets and shovels and such for little ones to play with. Our kids sat and played on the shore of the beach, and we got to enjoy the loungers, so it all worked out really well.

Thanks for the replies. We have done the DCL excursions. We were looking to cab or bus to a nice beach for the day. Just wondering if anyone had done that. I've done a little reading and it looks like Cable Beach is nice.
