Niagara Falls Crowne Plaze - OMG I'm worried!!!!

OP I was not allowed in Canada with an expired passport this June. I hope ur luckier. They did ask for an enhanced drivers license which I did not have. So we only got to c Niaga Falls NY side and come back. Carry printouts of where you have read this. Hope u have better luck maybe I just look dangerous.

I would think that they COULD keep you out of your own country if they thought it was in the interest of the best security...but surely you look innocent enough...:) good luck!!

I would think they same thing too, that they could keep me from coming back in ... I'm gonna make sure I put on my happy face.

As for being allowed into Canada, maybe you are right - but when I called today, she said I'd get a warning.. i guess it all depends on who you get at the border?

I just found this on the Canadian border control website...
I'm just curious now why they didn't let you over...

When you enter Canada, a border services officer may ask to see your passport and a valid visa (if you are arriving from a country from which one is required). If you are a United States citizen (U.S.), you do not need a passport to enter Canada; however, you should carry proof of your citizenship such as a birth certificate, a certificate of citizenship or naturalization or a Certificate of Indian Status, as well as a photo ID. If you are a permanent resident of the U.S., you must bring your permanent resident card with you.

IDK how things are now but I lived in buffalo up until 2 years ago and that border is reallllllly hit or miss. If you get a person in a bad mood you could get stopped. I'm not saying they won't let you back in but it could be a hassle. My friend got stopped (before needing a passport) because she had florida plates. No other reason than her plates were florida and we were going home to buffalo. My father got stopped once and his whole car inspected for no reason. So just be aware it could be easy, it could be a hassle...

personally I think if one person is required to have a passport to come back into the US everyone should have to have one. It shouldn't matter what line you come through and how miserable the agent is. They need consistency then there wouldn't be confusion.

Good luck and enjoy the trip!

Being a frequent crosser of the border in the N.F.s area I can say that for every nice customs worker there are 10 mean/nasty ones. Last trip they pulled the WeinerMobile over for a search... I have the pictures to prove it. Must find them and post...:lmao::lmao:

I totally agree with you and I'm not normally the type that let's these things happen... I'm so used to only using my passport for international travel and haven't been to Ireland in 2 years, i'm sure thats why I didn't notice that it was this year.

Hopefully I'll have one of those nicer agents and not a meanie! :)

lmao@ the weinermobile..... maybe they were hungry agents! :)

Well, luck was with me... Actually neither the USA or Canadian side today even realized that my passport was expired. They asked a few questions and sent me on my merry way... No one noticed the date or anything.

I guess I just got lucky this time.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
