I've been trying to find the time to post all week. I've loved reading about all my friends...learned some very interesting things.
I was born in Wisconsin, moved to Michigan for graduate school (GO BLUE!), and took a promotion to Syracuse, NY, where I met my husband, Mike (a HS teacher), and gave birth to our son, Sean, who is now 15. Transferred to CT in 1990 with Carrier, a division of United Technologies Corp. I've worked for UTC for 23 years, and am now working for my fourth division, Sikorsky Aircraft. We build helicopters. I'm Manager of HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems), which means I'm in charge of the computer system that pays everyone. In 2000 we implemented a new system, which was a great deal of work but which justified my traveling to Florida many times (yippee!). I was in Orlando on October 1, 1999, standing in line to buy the Pin of the Day (remember those?) and stood there wondering why I would stand in a long line when I could be riding rides. Started talking with the people in line and haven't been on a ride since! (Actually I try to get on at least ONE ride every visit.)
I started posting on Disney internet sites while I was planning my October 1999 visit, then discovered the DIS when I got hooked on pins. Went to the first NYC Pin Meet on February 12, 2000, where I met Peggie. A few weeks later we met Leslie for lunch one day, and the rest is history. We were thrilled when Dom discovered pins and joined our little group, and now we have Wanda, Caroline and Joanne in our little meet group and we can't get together often enough.
The August Pin Event was an amazing time, but because I've spent so much money on pins this year I will have to postpone my next visit until December. I will be down for Christmas and New Years, although I will be bringing my parents and won't be able to do as much with the pins as I usually do. Of course I will get to the Boardwalk and give Leighton a big hug, and can't wait to introduce my family to the Peachident. I assume there will be a Contemporary Pin Meet on December 28th and I will do everything in my power to get there. In 2002 I do not expect to visit very often, but the future is very bright. Last year we bought our retirement home -- and it is 15 minutes from WDW! It will take a few more years to get there, but someday I will be living pintrader's life and loving every minute of it.
