NHL Playoffs: Bruins vs. Lightning

Well... Here it is. The Eastern Conference Finals.

Both teams had swept their previous opponents.

1 team lives for their special teams, the other needed a 5 on 3 to get their 1st power play goal of the post season.

Both teams have goalies standing on their heads to keep their teams in the game.

It will be a series of flash vs crash. May the best team win (Bruins).

Also... Don't underestimate the Thomas vs Roloson storyline. Way back when, U. Lowell offered Tim Thomas a scholarship, only to rescind the offer and give it to Roloson when he decided to leave juniors and play in the NCAA. As a result, Tim went to Vermont.

I'm a die-hard Patriots fans and hockey is a new sport to me but....I recently started dating a Bruins fan (well, he also has season Pats tickets, but hockey is his thing) and it looks like I better learn the game cuz our last three dates were at least partially hockey playoff games and its been "suggested" that dating in the next few weeks will most likely involve my learning the rules and regs of hockey.

The original six supporter in me says Go Bruins.

But, the Steve Yzerman supporter in me says Go Tampa Bay-- I'd love to see TB make it to the finals for Stevie Y, so I think I will root for them.

It will be an interesting series with a great outcome in either favor-- I can't wait to watch some more great hockey!

don't forget Thomas and St. Louis were teammates for 4 years at UVM.


Going to miss Bergeron esp on faceoffs. Hope he makes it back for the last couple games. Opens the door for Seguin to be an unsung hero.

The 1 match-up I can't wait to see is St. Louis vs. Marsh-mont (Marchand, for those who aren't in on the joke).

This will be THE most epic battle since I saw a gerbil fight a mouse, over a piece of rodent chow, at a pet store. This should be great to see who will get under the other's skin first and best?

Also, it doesn't hurt that they can also provide some offense.

You could be me!!! ALthough I am a diehard Sox fan - Pats too but hockey was soo not my thing - way too cold Oh and I am South Shore too!!

Well started dating a HUGE hockey freak - he plays 3 nights a week - 2 leagues and stick practice. Actually right now on his day off he is on the ice in Peabody

So I have learned the ins & outs of hockey - we are now season ticket holders. Well we share tix with another couple.

Finally got the dates and bonus - we are doing both Game 1 & 2

On 98.5fm the Sports Hub, one of the afternoon guys (Mike Felger), since the beginning of the season would go on tangents about why he couldn't understand why Bruins fans were so devoted to Marchand from the start. Again and again, he reem anyone who thought that Marchand could be a real contributer to the team. Going so far as to compare Marchand as the Donny Sadler of the Bruins. A type of player who shows moments of flash, has a strong fan following but won't amount to much.

One day, during the middle of the season, Felger induldged a caller who shared his views of Marchand and Marchand supporters. The caller kept on going on and on about "I don't care about Marsh-mont. I don't even want to talk about Marsh-mont..." The audio bits will still be played occasionally.

As the season progressed, Felger was forced to admit that he was wrong about Marchand, after wave after wave of calls and texts would cite Marchand's exploits from the previous night. And, to his credit, the caller called back in to eat crow.

As a result of this sound bite, the running joke around Boston is to refer to Brad Marchand as Marsh-mont. It has even reached the B's locker room where they use that as one of his nick names.
