Breathing some life into this thread

Congrats at all that but why aren’t Winnipeg fans packing the arena? I think yesterday may have been the first sellout of the season. I noticed that the attendance at many Jets games was 2000 or so short of capacity. In the NHL’s smallest ā€œnormalā€ arena. Is something unusual going on?

It’s mostly ticket prices, but in house experience played a part in it too. I think a lot of fans were/are feeling like the ownership group takes the fans for granted. They have done things to address that, but it will take a while to show how well the changes go over.

We are a big city but have a small town mentality. Things are also very expensive here. I always laugh at Americans complaining about gas and grocery prices. Doing a rough conversion (very rough), gas in my city is currently ~$6 per gallon. In my local grocery store (nationwide chain) four pieces of boneless, skinless chicken is $27. I can show you the flyer if you need proof lol. Hockey tickets are WAY down the list of priorities.

Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Our Halloween ushered in a passionate young fan! He met Matthew's and other players at the next practice. Auston asked him how long it took him to grow HIS mustache? He said: 1 Day!

Superstore

This is called Free From, but it’s actually the law that chicken can’t contain those things. They’re just buzzwords to make people feel safer

Wow @prairie_girl , I just looked up your gas, it’s 40c A LITER. Cheaper. Ugh

I wish our fans would stand up for something. I know we are in a rebuilding phase, but we have gone from bad to worse. Still, the place is packed. šŸ˜’

I hope Laine gets healthy and goes on a tear for you. There was a small part of me that wanted us to resign him, but understood why it’s a risk.

Where do you buy your chicken that it’s half that?

Fresco/Cantors $12 for 4 breasts. Had a pack of 10 thighs for $9 tonight.
Use the flipp app to see if on sale
But I’m feeding a big crew here so need to watch my pennies.

Go jets go! Are you going to any games?

Thanks. I had a feeling that the ownership may have alienated the fans somehow. Last year the Jets had a great record too yet attendance was a bit soft.

I’m worried that Gary Bettman may be contemplating a return to Atlanta. He finally admitted defeat in Arizona but apparently is willing to give Atlanta a third chance.

I saw this and thought the gas price seemed off. Please tell me if my numbers are off. According to Natural Resources Canada, the average price per liter in Winnipeg is $1.23. Extrapolated out, that's $4.64/gallon. Doing the conversion, that would be $3.27/gallon US. Putting it 19 cents above the average US price per gallon, which is the exact amount of the Federal Fuel Charge. Average gas price in California is $4.29/gallon which would work out to CAD 1.61/L.

In hockey news, Kaprizov has been lights out for the Wild, whom are only chasing the Jets in the division and in all of the NHL.

You’re correct. I converted one of the numbers the wrong way.

The only reason it caught my eye was because my day job deals a lot with fuel prices. My industry includes many representatives from Canada, I hear quite a bit about the exchange rate and how bad it is. I can only imagine how it's hitting industries like hockey that have to pay in USD, but all revenue is in CAD.

Now we’re getting into why the Jets left the first time. It wasn’t the only reason, but it was one of them.
