Nexus During Covid?

Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with using Nexus at Pearson during covid? I.E., is it running, or does everyone have to go through the line because of checking testing, etc?

Yes! We used it during our trip to California in August. Be sure to keep an eye out of the signs once you approach the security line. It can be hidden because it is small. Also once you get past the security check, make sure you are in the Nexus line. In our experience the regular line got mixed in with the Nexus line because the non-Nexus line was so huge. The woman in front of us decided to walk ahead and found the very small Nexus sign again and it was blocked by people. She came back to get her party in front of us and we followed them up, and breezed on through. Thank goodness for the other traveler in front of us! Of course you can also always ask the staff. Enjoy your trip!!

Just wanted to add that we also used it on our return as well! Huge time saver.

We used it at Pearson and had no problem. So grateful for it too as customs was mobbed on Labor Day weekend!

I applied for my Nexus Card in Mar. 2021 (conditional accepted) and of course I still have to do the "interview" but NO I cant get any appointment because of the Covid closures. I hope something opens up after Sept 22 when & if the border restrictions are lifted. I really was hoping to use it for my Nov trip.

Are you a new applicant or renewal?

We renewed ours and everyone except for my daughter was approved and sent a new card. They said my daughter has 24 months to get the interview. So I'm not sure they're expecting to open soon. I've been checking for several months now to book for my daughter and they're still closed.

New application. I plan on taking all the paperwork with me in November, cause under the FAQ section it does state “when returning to the US you can go to the CPBS (or whatever the letters are) to be interviewed” I’ll just keep checking on it.

I did that for Global Entry. My interview was canceled due to government issues so I just mentioned wanting an interview to the Border Agent checking my passport the next time I returned from out of country and he walked me over to the appropriate area.

Thank you for this info. Our flight is at 10:15am tomorrow and have our parking booked for 6:20am and are Nexus users and weren’t sure if it was open. I was praying and hoping it was after reading accounts of how long it has taken people to get through security and customs and some missed their flight. I’m hoping 4 hrs early and Nexus will help.
