I guess I don't recall being offered that--either way--I use it for air travel also so I would have selected to have it. Odd that I can't remember even having to consider it.

We were there (Pearson) getting processed at the same time as a few other couples. One of the couples did not get the iris scan but were told that if they changed their minds, to stop back in as they could get it added at any time.

Am not sure how new your Nexus card is, but I know you can go into the office at anytime that it's open (no appointment needed) to update your card (passport changes, etc) and from what we overheard yesterday that includes going in to get the iris scan done.

We've had ours about 2 years...and we did the iris scan.I don't recall being told we didn't have to? But no matter.. useful for us anyways as we travel a lot from YYZ.

When we went..we had only the Passports that we used to apply online, and that was Canadian. We also hold British Passports (EU) and they knew that and we had to go back at a later date and add those. We are flying out of YYZ soon and will go to the Nexus office in the terminal and add our renewed Canadian PP as well. Easily done as long as we are within the Nexus 'office' hours as most times we aren't it seems

Just FYI, This is what a friend who works @ Port Hurnon US immigration told me:

Nexus is a United States Government Issued Identification. It is valid at ALL US entry points. If they do not have a specified "Nexus" line, you can still use the Nexus pass as your ID for entry into the US.

For person's entering other countries, including Canada, it is the "perogitive" of the custom's agent to request additional ID such as your passport to gain entry. It is advised to also carry your passport if you have it.

Nexus is currently good for travel to US, Canada, Mexico and Carribean....NOT CUBA.

From Canada Customs agent Sarnia: If you carry a valid nexus card you should have no problems using it to re-enter Canada.

We have Nexus, but also carry our passports ... even for day trips. WE LOVE NEXUS!!
