I just returned from WDW and my first trip to AK. The crowds were very light and I got to ride EE twice, once walk on with 10 minute wait and then walked on later with a fastpass. I think the views of Everest from the various parts of the park are amazing and the imagineers did a great job on getting the scale right to create these great views. I was watching a PBS special on Kilaminjaro last night and it struck me that another thrill ride at AK in Africa with Kilaminjaro as a theme would be a perfect addition to this great park.

That would add some nice symmetry. I think, though, that the next big ride -a mountain maybe :confused3 -will be going in at MK. I was reading a rumor thread on another site (but one I consider reliable) and there seems to be a growing sense of certainty about a big e-ticket ride coming to MK -maybe announced in October :confused3

Disclaimer: I don't claim to be one of those "in the know" guys. I just visit various sites occassionally and sort thru what I read -knowing what and whom I can trust.

IMHO they should rehab space mountain first. Just got back from DL and their new space mountain is incredable. Very smooth, onboard music and great lighting special effects. 10 x better than the one in Florida. Rehab the space mountain and then builyd a fire/whatever mountain in the old lagoon space...Zazu

Bald Mountain! I think it would be a great Fantasia themed ride in MK or MGM.

If they are going to do on at AK, it should be Ayer's Rock. Surround it with an Australian section. It might even be a good idea to attach the Irwin name to it. Maybe an educational ride with Bindy doing the narration. I believe Terri would go for that, as long as they made it crystal clear that the over-riding theme would be conservation.

Ayers Rock is considered a holy place and there is a lot of controversy about even hiking on it. I'm pretty sure a ride themed around it would be a problem for a lot of aborginal people.

Did not know this... This makes me wonder about Everest. Isn't it supposed to be a holy site for some too?

I don't know about Everest. I only know about Ayers because I recently read a travel article about how you would have to make a moral choice about whether or not to climb it and they outlined the different arguments.

Agreed, the DL space mountain is incredible, its like a whole new experience...just went back on the WDW one two weeks ago and it just wasn't the same (yes, realizing that the tracks are totally different, but they could make it smoother and add the effects from DL)

Keep your eyes open for duplicates of ALL the Mountains.

While I was working at Splash one day during Easter (so it was PACKED) some man came up to me and started yelling that there were too many people, it was 2 in the afternoon and his daughter had only ridden one ride and she'd have more fun in her sandbox outside. I politely told him that this was one of the busiest times of the year and MK is the most popular theme park in the world and lines are to be expected.

His idea?

BUILD 2 OF EACH MOUNTAIN. So right behind Splash, make sure you look for Splash Mountain 2!!

Sheesh.

I didn't say build a ride on Ayer's Rock, but use it as the focal point of a new land in AK. And Steve Irwin did climb it.

Everest is a holy site.
