Next oncologist consultation..............

We leave in a few minutes for the appointment with the medical oncologist who will be handling the chemo end of treatment. We have a bunch of questions and hope we leave as optimistically as we did when we left the radiation oncologists appointment. All the doctors we have had to deal with as far as the treatment we have chosen (instead of surgery) have been wonderful.

I'll keep you guys up to date once I get home!!

How did everything go?

The doctor has decided to go with a different 'form' of chemo than we had thought. Instead of having one dose weekly for 7 weeks, Dennis will have a LARGE dose early next week, a couple days before radiation will start. Then, half way through, they will do a 2nd large dose, at the end of treatment, they will give him a 3rd large dose IF he is up to it (will depend on his blood counts). The doctor has already given him prescriptions for 2 different anti-nausea meds that he want Dennis to bring with him when he goes in on Tues. Then on Wed., he needs to go back in and get an injection of Procrit (to help his blood counts stay ok)

These guys really have thought of everything. They treated us so nice, welcomed questions (from BOTH of us!!). They have private rooms for chemo, complete with lounge chairs and tv! It is such a nice change from "I won't deal with your wife!" (I know I should let this go, but that guy really made me mad!!!)

Thanks for asking how we did. I don't want to drive anyone here nuts with my talking about this.
