Next DVC resort?

I know it has been mentioned elsewhere but the Convention business at YC is strong. We can't even get a bid from them for a conference. Convention business is great since it also brings in guaranteed room nights (okay, similar to DVC) but also commitments to food and beverage. Plus the bumper nights for conferences, chances to sell tickets, bring families, sell LLs, etc. Sure, some of that overlaps with DVC but they have teams out every week selling Disney YC and others for conferences.

Which lobby work do you mean? There was some refurbishment of the VGF lobby (DVC building). I would assume this was paid for by DVC members. The lobby of the main building? That's not owned by DVC in any way. There might be some costs reaching DVC through the fees for shared facilities but I can't imagine this is a lot. What might have been illegal about this?
Referring to the main GF lobby. If some of it reaches DVC, good for Disney.

I don’t think it’s illegal, but I was replying to post indicating it would be illegal if Disney flipped part of YC to DVC and then did the work they are doing on YC.

I am all for them converting some YC to DVC and as a BCV owner I would definitely add on points there. But if they added a tower to either BC or YC they would absolutely kill Stormalong Bay. It's almost too crowded with the rooms they have now, I cannot imagine if they added a whole new tower of guests.
They don't seem to care. With Poly, the amenities they added with the tower (small pool, restaurant, gym) were needed even without all the additional people from the tower. Unfortunately I can see the same happening with a BCV flip.

IMO BCV would not be an option to expand since its expiring in 2042 - unless they extend the land lease and all the current contracts - but how likely is that to happen 🫣 - if it did, WOW - just WOW.

Dont know if Yacht Club realistically would be an option either - Maybe as we approach 2042 to takeover from BCV it could be. Lets say DVC Yacht Club sales start in late 2040, and first checkin around January 2042 then people have ample of time to decide if they want to own at the resort to keep their access to SAB. Then come the expiration of BCV and all the others 2042 resorts. Disney starts a refurb of some or few of them. What used to be Beach club will then become an extension to YC DVC instead.
Yep, expansion/tower at BCV would be for the new contract, not 2042.

With all the construction work they have done at YC area this year, I think it's a clear sign they will not be expanding DVC there in the near future.

For example, VGF BPK flip. After it's sold out, they announced the work on the VGF lobby area. Doesn't this mean the lobby work costs are shared by Disney and VGF owners?
assuming they would flip YC to DVC they couldn’t do so and then shortly after begin refurb work at YC on the new owners dime.

Correct way would be to do it beforehand and then flip it.
Not prepping to turn it into DVC?

I know others have echo'd this as well, but I'll also add that putting the bunk beds inside the parent room is ridiculous. They should have been in the living room next to the pulldown bed.
Agreed, a bunk bed in the room is silly.

I wonder just how much conference business GF gets these days... It seems like Disney has decided to push as much conference as possible to Coronado and Yacht Club.

The fact is Disney Deluxe cash rates on the monorail Disney cannot fill... That's why GF and Polynesian both have had to shrink/become a part of DVC... Cash rates are more lucrative than DVC, but only if you can charge rack!

Isn't that how the cabins have always been set up?

DVC resorts are taking longer to sell out, and Disney is unable to fill their deluxe resorts at rates they want. So why build more resorts?

LSL says hi!

I agree, there's gotta be a point of oversaturation and we might be getting there with LSL, big reason I could see that being it really before the 2024 flips start.

They are basically tapped on on converting anything existing due to that 40 year min limit deal, only thing they could add to now is CCV and that would have to happen in the next couple of years.

Got curious on dvc taking longer to sold out status, couldnt find anything by just googling but gemini spit this out:

Not sure how accurate any of that is, RIV is not sold out for instance, and did SSR really take 11 years to sell out?

Actually they could convert any of the hotel rooms they wanted to, they just wouldn't be able to put them in the same association. That's why CCV is separate from BRV for example.

Once again AI is wrong when it comes to DVC.

Yea true, I was just thinking of what they could possibly add to current so you don't have a screwy deal like that where part of the resort is expiring one year and the rest another.

Another instance of AI making things up was the BLT date.
BLT went on sale October 2008. (Possibly September of that year. Original deeds had executed on 10/1/08 written in.)

I can see the RIV expansion possibility. But I think the next wave of DVCs will also follow the park expansions. The largest expansions are at the MK. And yes, LSL will be a MK area resort--the third such MK area offering in the last ten years. But I can also see the appeal of having something closer to the park in terms of expansion. I can see a possibility that, as construction finishes on Cars / Villains, the team then focuses on an adjacent DVC hotel, perhaps on the Adventureland pad or maybe on the laydown yard that is being used now for construction set up. But I think a hotel that has direct access to the MK, especially with the two new lands, would be a huge selling point for DVC. As DVC expands, the DVD sales strategy seems clearly to be to go back to the same set up customers--again--to sell them more points. And those new resorts need to offer something more to existing owners (hello lazy river and maybe hello direct access to the MK).

Gotta second this. Our first stay at BW was on the inn side for a convention. That was back in 96. (no not 1896!) since then the Inn side has been pretty full from Conventioners almost every trip.
