News Round Up 2021

From everything I'm hearing it's just a matter of when they decide to go ahead at this point. I'm hoping it's sooner than later with the obvious increase in crowds expected over the summer.
Hopefully in the next two weeks LOL

I for one think it is great they are removing theming for a theme park. Not to mention light colored concrete feels much hotter than middle shades because it reflects the heat from the sun back up at you.

Yeah, the gear motif doesn't really fit with the new look they are going for, but I do wish they were putting in something else. Maybe they will, but it will be a more minimal design.

Disneyland Paris will have 2 AP holder days on 15 & 16 June before the reopening on the 17th.

DLP is facing some backlash from their AP holders. When the registration system opened and most dates in the summer were sold out in six minutes, it resulted in a lot of angry AP holders who hadn't seen the communication till when they came home. The communication was send over social media in the afternoon. Plus DLP didn't set a limit of how many days you can make a reservation for. Most likely people who got into the system immediately booked (half a) dozen dates.
(Yes, I am guilty of this as well, but for September when schools have restarted)
That plus some people are angry at DLP for not being able to travel to France due to restrictions, or because the costs of the negative tests can add up to a lot for a family. In NL a test with a certificate valid to travel can cost 100 euro ($120) and you need one getting into France, and one getting back into a NL.
People want DLP to extend their Passes because of this etc.

The e-mail/social media message to AP holders this morning.
That they say they are willing to listen is a huge step forward for DLP, it hasn't always been like that.

Dear Annual Pass members,
We are so excited to see that following the announcement of our Resort opening, many of you have already booked on our online reservation platform the dates of your future park visit.
We are aware that some of you are experiencing difficulties in finding available dates, with many of them already booked up.
Your comments are important to us. We are currently working on identifying solutions and will get back to you in the coming days.
Our park capacity will remain limited due to the health and safety measures currently in place and until further notice. While it is imperative for us to comply with these measures, we are doing our best to preserve the experience of our guests.
We are pleased to confirm, similar to last year, that we will be dedicating two exceptional pre-opening days exclusively to you, on June 15th and 16th, to give you the opportunity to rediscover our Parks before their official reopening to the general public. We will get back to you very soon with further details on those days.
We know you are as eager as we are to get back to the magic and we are looking forward to welcoming you very soon!

That's really great that they listened and are responding!

It really stings for being a Disneyland (California) Legacy AP. I'm sitting here watching all other Disney parks keep their APs and listen to them. We're over here being told there won't even be an AP system again, just a "park loyalty program"/ "frequent visitor program". It makes me so sad.

So, I really hope WDW's AP sales start again because I need an AP somewhere!

Yeah, I am so amazed by this. So many parks around the world, not just Disney, have an AP program. That Disney, who normally isn't a leader, is going to experiment with this. That was unexpected. But I do think if there is one place where it could work out for Disney it is at Disneyland and with the Disneyland audience.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair would love to sell you an AP.
