News Round Up 2020

I don’t personally see them needing to push it back unless something catastrophic happens. I think worst case is they’re going to just rip the bandaid off like WB just did with their movies. They have Guardians and Tron coming in the next 10-16 months. Rise and MMRR are still brand new. As much as they’d like a big celebration of Rat opening, it might just be more beneficial to have it up and running, working through the kinks before the crowds arrive.

Guess I was thinking of the catastrophic scenario but I guess then they can just adapt and won't really be "their fault" - but good point that even if they can't expand capacity (or even have to dial it back) at some point they do need to open it

Spice Road Table to reopen Dec. 13th with a new menu and no ADRs

That is one of our absolute favorite places and I actually really like the idea of just a limited food menu (hopefully they keep the full bar) and just grab something and sit down, etc. It's a lovely locaiton with tasty food (they had good kids meal options too - assume that wont' stay)

Just glad it will reopen in some fashion I guess

I imagine though this will change when fireworks return since that is prime real estate.

Well, one way to counter the "Exit Surge" would be to schedule the night time event earlier (still after dark, but that happens pretty early in winter and early spring) and keep park open a couple hours afterwards.... with dining, stores and attractions operating. Some families will leave, but some will stay longer to enjoy the parks.... Would also take the strain off the bus loading areas.

Just a thought.

good point - and at least with EPCOT there are two exits so you are splitting the crowds a bit too

But what do you do when we get back to Daylight Savings Time and longer days? Close it down??? Unlikely. If they want to avoid the Exit Surge problem, they'll have to have a plan that allows them to show it near the time of park close or else keep the parks open late every day (two hours or more past sunset), even on slow weekdays.

That works for a portion of the year but the majority of the year the sunset it too late for the parks to remain open for a few hours open unless they suddenly decide to operate much longer hours than they have in recent years.
