Doesn't seem like a lot of new info here though - just sort of confirmation of what was already known - except to know that it is continuing to progress. Most interesting is the comment that Anaheim has broken away from the penny-pinching of Orlando. Now we need Orlando to break away from the penny-pinching in Orlando.

If Orlando could get a new set of executives that would be great except that doesn't seem possible right now. Orlando has always seemed to do more penny pinching that Anaheim anyways.

As much of a TLM fan as I am, I really wish they'd replace this. It's a nice break from the heat but it's just so technically dated compared to most of the other shows in the parks. It might have looked super cool in the 90s...

As much of a TLM fan as I am, I really wish they'd replace this. It's a nice break from the heat but it's just so technically dated compared to most of the other shows in the parks. It might have looked super cool in the 90s...

Actually - I would argue they should keep it and update it. It's little things like this that make me the most disappointed in what Disney does - I realize they DO plus some attractions, but ones that really need it seem to languish. They could spend maybe $100,000 on that show and completely revitalize it as opposed to it feeling old and dated. Keep the puppet part at the front - that still works - but just replace the projections with something more modern, improve the Ariel effect, and then fix the way the last 45 minutes of the movie takes place in 15 seconds.

Am I imagining things or did water not fall from the "sky" on stage? I swear in the beginning of the show there used to be a part where water rained down in front of all the actors. The past couple times we've gone, it hasn't happened. Am I imagining this?

No - you are not - there was a water wall in front of the stage. I can't tell you if they stopped using it or not because I don't remember from the last time we saw it, but yes there definitely was a wall of water at the front of the stage at the start.

Edit: Maybe the 3 day closure will fix it.

I'm not disagreeing with the spirit of what you're saying about updates but I think you're underestimating how far $100,000 would go in this situation. It probably costs them more than that just to plan such a project, let alone do the physical installation.

Well - you are probably right, that number is low, but you get my point. Not a lot of money big picture to freshen something that hasn't changed in 20+ years.

Edit: There are plenty of attractions that DON'T need refresh (Tower of Terror comes to mind) but probably has a huge mainteance budget. The shows in general at WDW never seem to get updates, and I think it's too bad. This is the one that to me is the worst - the effects seem so poor compared to current productions. Show like Nemo and Lion King are still fine, but Little Mermaid could be so much better. UNLESS they know it's bound to go in Phase 3.
