News Round Up 2016

Moana looks gorgeous, but I just have that small notion that it's going to be like Princess and the Frog - beautiful, but average at the box office.

Well, that's the funny thing. Last year everyone thought Zootopia was going to be the average movie with an average box office, and the entire fanbase was really hyped for Moana. It would be really ironic if Moana doesn't perform at least within the Tangled/Wreck it Ralph realm. The problem is... It opens between Fantastic Beasts and Rogue 1.

And speaking of animation, here's a little sneak peak (no footage) of Inner Workings, the short film produced by Walt Disney Animation that will play in front of Moana in theaters. It is very Inside Out, but more focused on the brain vs heart battle rather than feelings.

Is the Shanghai mine train shorter than the magic kingdom one or is it just me?

Looks the same to me... interior detail doesn't looks similar but not as good... diamonds look very uniform. The building at the end with the dancing scene is missing as well otherwise.. same.

Well - I think Princess and the Frog was hurt by the notion at the time that Disney movies were not any good - and probably the traditional hand-drawn hurt it as well (at least that's what Disney believes and the reason we will likely never see a hand-drawn Disney movie again.) IF the movie is as GOOD as Princess and the Frog I'd be pretty pysched, cause I liked that one a ton. (My favorite music of recent Disney movies - better than Frozen IMHO.)

Moana has the princess / fantasy element going for it, but it also isn't just a Frozen clone. I expect it will do very well, even up against Fantastic Beasts - which is likely a behemoth. However, it IS a little different market, as the Potterverse is going to skew to a slightly older crowd. (It's got a month before Rouge One, and not completely the same market either.)

Shanghai's Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Roaring Mountain

Does look pretty scenic when riding Mine Train and you can see the giant castle in the distance

Also, I love the idea of something like Roaring Mountain - would be great to see something like that in a Stateside park
