News Round Up 2016

I suspect it is still a guess - just a slightly more educated one.
(A) Universal has already raised ticket prices - Disney rarely waits long to respond
(B) Disney lasted raised ticket prices mid-February of 2015 - they haven't waited > 1 year to raise ticket prices since MYW was instituted. These are the dates for ticket price raises, the longest period in here is 1 year and 3 days - meaning we are RIGHT NOW in the longest drought of a ticket price raise in 11 years. (1/2/2005,1/1/2006,8/6/2006,8/5/2007,8/3/2008,8/2/2009,8/5/2010,6/11/2011,6/3/2012,6/2/2013, 2/23/2014,2/22/2015)
(C) This Sunday is the start of the next fiscal month, and while they haven't ALWAYS used that (the last years were mid-month), it makes sense.

So - I think the easy thing to do if you are a Disney pundit is to say "It's gonna be this weekend" and if you are wrong say "Oh they decided to hold off."

Me - I think I am going to be buying our October tickets before this weekend - because even if it doesn't happen THIS weekend, it WILL be soon.

Me -- I just bought our tickets for October...I figure I'd rather it be wrong and buy tickets that I'm going to have to buy at some point anyway than it be right and me be mad at myself for not buying them before the price increase...either way I will be celebrating the existence of this forum because otherwise I'd be upset with the rest of thousands (millions) of unsuspecting Disney visitors who "could have" purchased their tickets before the increase :mickeybar

Agree! I also bought ours for our trip in August. Have to buy them eventually and would rather save a little bit if I can.

Has anyone speculated on what the increase ($$) will be? (Assuming it's a regular increase and not a tiered increase).

Really? That ride is a people eater and my last trip (December 2014) we practically walked on. Then again, I do rope drop... maybe if I hadn't got there until 11am it would have been a different story.

Our last two trips there is no wait at rope drop, but by around 10 am it looks pretty backed up. We usually choose it as an option for our Tier 2 fastpass (mostly because there really isn't much else in Tier 2 that interests us) and then hit it on our way out of the park for our afternoon break (we usually leave for a swim and then come back at night for Illuminations)...

I am a little baffled by the apparently popularity of FPs for Wishes (or Illuminations for that matter), which can be watched and enjoyed from so many places in the park. It's a bit easier to make a case for a parade FP in my mind because prime viewing (without random people or children on top of people) blocking your view is much more limited.

Personally though I'm inclined to think Disney should offer FP+ for every attraction in the park and then it's up to the visitors to decide how they waste them...

we've used a FP on Illuminations in the past (though admittedly it was our 4th after using up the 3 pre-selected ones). It was nice knowing you had a spot set and we got there only a few minutes before it started and had a great spot with some room to stretch, etc. Waiting for shows like that with little kids can be less than fun after a while so this helped us out quite a bit

Well actually the entirety of Jim and Len's thoughts on Frozen's FP+ dilemma is that Frozen Ever After as well as Three Caballeros will open with Future World and FEA will be FP exclusive until World Showcase opens at 11 and then the standby line will begin loading.

I hope that's the case. Making a ride entirely unavailable to last minute planners (or those not aware to book at the correct precise moment) seems so wrong....I know the line will be ridiculous, but people should be able to make their own decision whether it is worth it to wait, or not....

I agree...

And you know what I'm gonna say here - it's symptomatic of a bigger problem.

Soarin was built as a "middle of the road" attraction at California adventure. Yes...the truly awful version of that park.

And you have to beat people away with a stick in Florida.

I don't know if that's a puzzling sign for wdw...Epcot...or the customer drinking the sand.

Just insane.
Soarin was a top ride at CA when it first opened. One of the most desired fast passes in the park, if not the most desired. True, there was not much competition in the early days, but it was hugely popular.

So wrong place for this but anyway...

Just finished watching Mickey's Soundsational on the liveblog. Wow. That parade's got nothing on the Festival of Fantasy.

Saw it live last October and actually really enjoyed it - but it is no FoF. Actually, it feels like a junior version of FoF - or that FoF is what Soundational is when it grows up

The music is pretty catchy though and I liked that different characters were featured - and that the finale / ending float was for Mary Poppins

It's still popular.

The most interesting thing going is whether or not the tiering rolls out.

I'm thinks no...because I think they'll try to get ahead of the message on that...and there's too much ripped up currently.

I hope you are right:worried:

An Italian restaurant on the water was planned but the problems that Spice Road Table has had canned that a while back.

Just out of curiosity, what are the problems Spice Road Table has had? We have an ADR for there for our July trip, so "problems" has me concerned

The problem is for Disney. Hardly anyone goes there.

Problems getting people to eat there. I doubt it will impact your reservation. They just don't have enough customers.

It just hasn't been popular. You'll go in there and it's absolutely dead. The food is also something not many people tend to eat.

ah, ok - thanks. So then that problem wouldn't really relate to a new waterside Italian restaurant

The menu really appeals to us plus it is something different (we have good Italian near us so we never eat Italian at Disney)

If it helps, it was the only place we could get last minute on our last trip, and I really liked it. If it's your type of food, it's good stuff.
