Okay just spoke with my guide clearing up things on my addon. I told everyone here in my other thread i would ask about the new promo.

It is for addons 160 points you get 10.00 off at SSR and 8.00 off at AKV and then a 500.00 Disney GC,for 320 you get the same but with a 1000.00 Disney GC instead of 500.00

For new member they have to have a member referral is 160 and you get 10.00 off SSR and 8.00 off AKV and a 500.00 Dsiney GC and then 320 the same but with 1000.00 Disney GC instread of 500.00.

New member no referral
10.00 off SSR and 8.00 off AKV

The price PP before the credits is still the 104.00.

Hope this clears some things up.

Misty

So for a new purchaser, a member referral is worth $500 to $1,000, depending on how many points you purchase. Pretty good deal for one PM.

Thanks!

So no more Developers points? I'll bet Memeber Services is really happy with that decision, no manual bookings.

Right, my guide so no developer points at all now;) .I bet they are abour to go crazy with all the developer points.

I assume you can use the gift card for anything WDW related? Like tickets or meals?

I'm really glad I bought earlier and got the developer points (even though they can be a pain). I put the value for mine at least $1,000 (since I am using most of them for a 3-night stay at the Grand Californian)--much more than a $500 gift card . . . .

Thanks for the update. My guide comes back from vacay tomorrow so at least I can tell her I should get at least a $500 GC.

A great weekend to all!

Well sounds like there is no difference between addons and new member with referral. Also, the $500 GC for 160 and $1000 for 320 only means they're not restricting multiple purchases of 2 160 points to get 2 $500 GC. Now if you bought 2 320 addons, would you get 2 $1000 GC? They'd be foolish not to, but there may be stupid rule on this.

In all, sounds like they're simplifying the offers (as well as reducing them). Developer points were probably worth more. Maybe they're getting rid of the manual bookings until their system is capable of handling them down the road and they'll bring it back or whenthey have a lot of extra rooms empty. Looks like they're pretty much booking up and saving enough rooms for regular points usage.

We just booked a 5 night stay at BWV for the fall with our 160 developer points. Worth WAY more than $500! Really too bad.

thanks for the info.

do you know if there is any incentive to add-on 60 points at AKV, or do you have to add-on a higher minimum of points?
I know I won't get Developer Points, but I'm hoping to still get the 60 points for $96 each.

I've also read here on DISboards about the price increases on the sold-out DVC locations as of 04/01/08. I hope that AKV & SSR aren't increasing too.

tia... :)

We are thinking about buying but I was wondering if anyone knows of a history list of the DVC incentives or discounts that have been offered over the years. I have seen the price increase history and annual dues history but want to find out when the best time of year is to buy into DVC.

I dont think that I have ever seen anything on here about that. i might be wrong maybe someone can confirm.

I think WMD has a chart that has shows the history of cost per point, and then the adjusted cost per point taking into account the discounts.

It seems to me the best time to buy has been the fall/winter promotions, like the one now. It started in October and should have ended 2 weeks ago.

There have been a number of incentives - none have been timed to an annual period.

Initially, the incentive was free theme park passes. This was offered to early OKW and VB buyers up until about 1996. The free pass program ended, by contract, on December 31, 1999. Early buyers at HH and BWV had no initial incentive.

The next incentive was a "rebate" of the costs of a WDW vacation for those staying onsite up to $1500 towards DVC purchase. In exchange, buyers gave up their first year's points to DVC (the minimum purchase was 150 points).

That incentive morphed into the "$10 per point discount incentive" - also giving back the first year's points to DVC. Keep in mind that during this timeframe, DVC was selling OKW, VB, HH and BWV and when OKW and BWV eventually sold out VB, HH abd VWL were all selling.

The incentives eventually were modified into the now familiar $8 and $10 discounts (there was even a $15 VB discount incentive) with occasional new twists like the Developer Points and Double Developer Points, free APs, $500/$1000 Gift Cards and the like. In the past, none have been seasonal and most were available for a number of months once they started. To my memory, the change last year from Developer Points to Double DPs was a deviation from past history where early buyers did not get the same purchase incentives ... however, in this case, the earliest buyers, existing DVC members, did still have a lower purchase cost since there was a price increase when AKV began sales to the public in March.

I wouldn't try to time a purchase waiting for a better deal unless you are just not yet ready to buy - BUT - due to the way guides are paid, the best deals seem to come as DVC nears it's fiscal year (October). Guides do have sales goals and are paid more based on the number of total points sold thruought the year. Sales late in the fiscal year have a higher commission that those at the start of the new fiscal year. At this time we are mid year.

Thanks for all the good info. We are going down at Christmas so I hope they will offer a good incentive. The guide that I spoke to on the phone said that there is really high interest in AKV. Would they sell out by Christmas? She said maybe. Since SSR only started in 2004 and are still selling I wouldn't think AKV even had a chance to sell out that fast. Please help me because in the above post it says that WMD may have a history list of points. I don't know what WMD is. Thanks
