I have no idea where to start planning. We don't have a date set yet. We are working on that, but it will be in the next 2 years. I have no idea where to even begin my planning. We would LOVE a DFTW, but we don't know if we can fit in in our budget. If we don't have our wedding in Florida, it will still have a disney magical theme. Any help?

Congrats!!! :)
I'm newly engaged too (5/18/07)
Getting married Dec 18th '08. It took us 3 shots to finally pick a date. And we ended up picking it literally as he was walking out the door at 7am for work and i had JUST woke up. LoL...kind of strange..but we had BOTH dreamt about it and thought about it over night..so we just KNEW it was right. Your date will come to you. I will say...be open minded. I was dead set on a spring wedding (march or april) and dead against a winter wedding...but when I opened up to the ideo of it..well..it just makes sense for us to do it in December for a lot of personal and family reasons. (The 18th is very significant to us). As for the planning...go take a look at the Disney wedding wishbook at disneyweddings.com.....play around with it. :) Its never to early to start! Best of luck! :) And congrats again! :)

Contact Disney and find out as much info as you can. They will send you the dvd and brochures most likely.

The prices will most likely change in 2 years.

I also want to tell you that I thought having a disney wedding would be so expensive but to be honest we are saving so much money by having a disney wedding. My wedding was going to cost 40000 to 50000 to have it in New Jersey. Everything added up too fast and there was just no way I would spend that much money for one day. We were going to have 125 people, now we are only inviting family and close friends and will have 50 guests at the most.

Even the vendors down in orlando were half priced compared to the ones up in Jersey. I am using Randy Chapman and he is a lot more talented and you get more than what you would get with the photographers around here. My photographer was going to cost 3500 and I am spending 1700 to use Randy.

A disney wedding can be expensive you just have to budget well. Good luck

Congratulations on your engagement :thumbsup2

Stick with this board and you can't go wrong, people are so friendly and helpful so never be afraid to ask anything. Have fun planning. :cutie:

I hear you on that. But from what I read if you do a a small wedding you may be able to do it at the world. That would be awsome. I am going for my honeymoon since I have so many people to invite, we got 5 day 4 nights with airfair and food and parks for like 1100. So just keep an eye out and call Disney tell um your budget im sure they can do somethin!! Good luck and congrats!!

I'm with Sharon on this one.

I closely followed the boards 2 years before getting engaged, so when it finally happened I knew exactly what I needed to do. Disney just confirmed everything:laughing:

Everyone is so helpful so make sure to ask away! ...and WELCOME!

Congadulations! What I did was just start researching venue's, cakes, food, my dress Music, and just dreamed up my ideal dream wedding

then create a budget

Then pick out the top 3 most important aspects of your wedding.

Concentrate on those first and put your money there.

then interview people

book

finish the details (guest book etc..)

Enjoy!

Congrats! :cheer2: Besides playing around on the wishbook on the Disney weddings website, I would also check out mouseweddings.com. There is some great info there!

I noticed you were from Illinois. We are doing an intimate DFTW. Had we chosen a custom though, and invited the same amount of people we would have invited had we had a wedding at home in Chicago, I think Disney still would have been less expensive! I looked at pricing for some of the downtown hotels and they were absurd!

Good luck deciding, and don't forget the boards, the folks on here have tons of helpful info!

:welcome:
