This is my first post here, tho I have been lurking for quite some time. Hoping you guys can help me with some things.

My post heading says it clearly. My spouse and I are seperating/divorcing and they have decided not to come on our long planned trip to Disney in 3 weeks. What do I need to do? I have tickets for 2 nights of each party as well as numerous ADRs and while I'm still so sad over this whole situation transpiring, I'm moving forward with going on a trip I have been looking forward to for months. I feel so lost that I don't know where to begin. Please help. Please.

Thank you so very much!!
MM

Maybe see is a friend or family member could go? I know it's short notice. Or just go solo and enjoy this time for you!

I can only assume there is a Madeline.

can Madelines grnadma/grandpa fo with? or a friend of yours? do you have af riend who can come with?

Hi MM, if you can't find a friend or family member to join you for the whole trip -- which may be tough on short notice -- you might at least be able to meet up with some fellow Dis'ers for a meal or other WDW activities while you're there. Maybe you can make some new friends that way.

I'm not sure of your exact trip days, but I'll be there around that time frame. I understand you have lots of plans already, but if you like, you'd be welcome to meet me for any of these:

Oct. 26 - one spot open in ADR for dinner at Ohana
Oct. 28 - breakfast at Kona Café
Oct. 28 - campfire sing-along at Fort Wilderness
Oct. 28 - late dinner at Artist's Point
Nov. 1 - dinner at T-Rex

I won't have internet access while on the trip, so if you'd like to meet, please feel free to send me a PM this week.

Sorry you're going through a rough time, but I hope you'll still have a great trip and a wonderful new beginning to the next stage of your life.

I will also be traveling with a friend nov6-10. Have no ADRs but running a 5k on Saturday. There are a few of us down there meeting up sat afternoon. (11/8)

You can still go and have lots of fun. Check the refund policy, you may be able to return the extra party ticket. Do not worry about ADRs. It is easy to reduce your party size-I just got back from my solo trip and had several ADRs for 2 people-I just let them know when I checked in. As long as one person shows, there is no cancellation charge for anyone else. If you have any pre-paid ADRs-like Cinderella's Royal Table, call and let them know about the reduced party size. In those cases, you would be charged for the meal. Have a great trip!

MadelinesMom....I second what Daisy said. I went down over Columbus day weekend alone for the first time without my DS. It was quite odd and yet exciting.

The Food and Wine Festival was a great gateway to travel alone and make new friends. It had its own opener.." oh what did you get? Did you like it? " I ended up havin breakfast with 3 other solo travelers on Saturday at the Parisan Breakfast (assigned seating!)

I am headed down Oct 27 to Nov 2 again solo. Don't ask! :) I would be glad to meet up and wander part of the World!

Daisy...may I join you for the campfire. I have never done that activity.

I agree with PPs: see if you can get a friend/family member to go with you. If not, see about a refund. If you go alone, you can meet up with other solo travelers if you'd like the company or maybe some time alone and enjoying the World will do you good.
I went to WDW on a solo trip a week after I left my ex-husband. I didn't meet up with anyone, I just wandered around doing what I wanted, what made ME happy and honestly it was the best thing for me. That trip is what prompted me to move all the way to Florida by myself, not knowing a soul.
So  we're all here for you :)

My husband and I visited Disneyworld for many years and had great times and memories.

4 years ago, he was very distant and when we went on our annual trip, he said he no longer wanted me. It was devastating and left a bad memory of what had been a fabulous tradition.

I decided to go back solo earlier this year to see if I could face it alone and still have a good time. I had a good friend come with for part of the trip and then I wanted to spend a few days alone when she left.
I thought it might be very hard, but I was even more upset to have the good memories taken away.
The trip was a success. Yes, I did cry a little at times, but overall it was empowering to make new memories and absorb the joy that is all around there.

I encourage you to go. Mourn your loss and lift your head and create new memories. I and a friend are booked to go in January and their will be no crying this time. It truly is one of the "happiest places on earth"

I hope this is still timely enough to help you!
I went on a solo cruise the week after my divorce was final, and had a really really good time. I needed the time to myself to process everything, but found that the activities surrounding me could distract me as well.
I also found myself unexpectedly solo on my first trip to WDW. Had planned a trip with a nephew, but found out he could not go the week before the trip. Options included postponing the trip, taking someone else, or cancelling his tickets and going by myself. Disney was pretty good about working with me on the tickets.
Good luck! and have fun whatever you decide.
