"Newest" Moms Hangout... take 2!

I stayed at Windsor Hills last February in a 3 bedroom 3 bath townhouse with our own pool. It was by far the most relaxing trip and we saw both Disney and Universal. We used Storytime for the rental company and still paid under $1000 for the week. :thumbsup2

Was it a pain to get to the parks? It will be just me and the kids, so driving is my main concern. I have a gps, and plan to go early every day.

Happy New Year to all of you!!! :goodvibes DH and I are planning to just sit and watch a movie and then watch Dick Clark like we normally do. I have a cold so am not feeling well. Hopefully I can make it til midnight!

If anyone is using Pampers and would like $1.50 off coupons, I have a whole bunch and would be happy to send them your way. Just PM me and let me know!!!!

Hope you all have a nice New Years Eve!!!

Indeed, Happy New Year!! (first time in several years that I've been awake to see it in.... man I'm gettin' old!)

December - My friend (from the "old" new mom thread actually!) was a DVC owner at BCV and BLT and she just sold her DVC memberships because they stayed offsite in one of the townhomes you're looking at and they loved it way more than DVC. She has 4 kids, so she said you just couldn't beat the space in the townhome, and with older kids it let her do Universal easier as well. So I think you'll really like it there!

DL is crowded, as is expected, but we still had a really productive day. We got to the park at 7:15, ride Alice, then had breakfast with the characters at the Plaza Inn (and I must say, though I have been there before, the character variety is far, far superior than anywhere in WDW. In one meal we saw Minnie, Chip, Dale, Tweedle Dee and Dum, Captain Hook, Gepetto, the mean fox from Pinocchio, the Fairy Godmother, Eeyore, and Tigger!), and hit Pooh, BTMRR, Matterhorn twice, Space Mountain, Buzz, Pinocchio, Mr. Toad, IASW, Nemo's Submarine (courtesy of a super nice CM who walked past us, played with Scarlett a bit, then said "You know what, she's so cute, how would you guys like to be backdoored into Nemo?"), got face paint, had lunch, and all between about 8:45-5:15.

Then we went to a dinner party thing at PP Hotel, which consisted of a buffet dinner, then a character dance party from 7-12. Well, as it is only 10:20 here now, clearly we didn't last till midnight, but we came back at 8:40 for the DL fireworks, which we watched from the room.

Tomorrow's another early day so I think I'll get to sleep!

I sawthe new year in, but with no internet. We had severe storms here all night. Thankfully, I haven't heard of any serious injuries this morning. I pretty much didn't sleep until some time after 2am!

Justine, sounds like an awesome trip! And that makes me feel really good about WH. I have firmed up plans more, but still have to check with ds13's baseball coach to make sure they won't be playing in July (he has already told me this, but ds13 wants to be positive........). I am booking 10 nights for $1000 total! 3 bed/3bath home, pool, internet, high chair, PS2, safety gates, etc. all included!

Hi all! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year to all! I have not been on the Dis in forever! I hope everyone is doing well!

Having 3 kids with such a gap in ages has been great but I cannot get onto the computer as much as I would like. I seem to do most of my stuff through my phone :-). Christmas here was great! The big kids got what they asked for and the baby got a few choice items from Santa! My DH would prefer that the baby got zip since he is so small, but how would I explain to the 9 and 7byear old that Santa skipped their baby brother? LOL

New Year's was great! The baby (William) was asleep by 10 so I got to enjoy the big kids. DH was on duty so I was on my own with the kiddoes! We stayed out until 2...yikes~! The weather in Cleveland has been amazing the last few days so the kids have been outside! So great!

I have to look back over the past weeks to see how everyone's trips went! We are going in 15 days! I cannot wait!

Did anyone have diapers delivered to their resort? Did the place you used deliver food too? I want to save my precious suitcase space by shipping diapers and snacks directly to the resort (BLT---woohoo!)

Take care and Happy New Year!!!
Carlita

Driving wasn't all that bad but I also had DH with me who drove most of the time. The only time that it was really a pain was driving to DTD and trying to find a parking space. I think there might be a bus from Windor Hills to the park for a small fee, I am not sure about the details....

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable Christmas just the 4 of us. DD got makeup from us as her gift. She's been wanting some for a while and decided she was old enough. She can't wear it to school yet, but can wear it for special occasions. DS got a Jolly jumper and an exersaucer. He loves the exersaucer. I think this kid will walk before he crawls. He's also talking and smiling all the time now. I also purchased his convertible car seat and an umbrella stroller for him. At 17 lbs he's getting heavy to lug around in the infant carrier. I use my Ring sling, Mei Tei or stroller frame when we got out anyway. I got a cast iron dutch oven and love it. I made a Roast beef for Christmas dinner in it and it was really good. DH got clothes as he had outgrown he old ones. He's starting to really put on the weight now that we no longer do Karate. I sometimes miss the Karate, but am putting my focus on Daniel at the moment.

2010 was a great year for us and I hope 2011 will be even better. Plans are in the works and I booked our October stay at CSR.

My ds just turned 1 and I had given him eggs around 10 months-when the dr said to go ahead and I did the yolk mixed with the cereal, then moved on to scrammbled and then he started eating pancakes and waffles and things with egg in them.He didn't have any reaction then and he eats pastina all the time(made in faculity that has eggs)Yesterday I made him scrambled eggs again for breakfast and he ate a whole egg scrambled and then started getting big red welts all over and began vomiting about 45 min later. The dr said that it doesn't always happen from the first exposure. He told me to not give him eggs again for 2 months and to wait a while before giving him the foods he has already had and then small amounts to see if they are ok-when they are cooked for a longer time some kids are fine with them.I go back to him at the end of the month.Of course I am afraid to give him anything because he was so miserable-he was dragging himself across the carpet to scratch his body it was so sad.I gave him benedryl and that helped after about an hour. Most of the things he was eating had egg in them-pastina,waffles,pancakes breads and things.Does anyone have experience with it and what foods have you found that are safe.He was just starting to eat almost all table food.TIA

Pooh, I don't have experience with eggs, but Scarlett has a milk allergy (and had a nut allergy as well, but seems to have outgrown that), and I just want to sympathize with you on what a true pain it is! It was super hard to find dairy free products, and I know from that experience that eggs are a similar issue. Anything vegan is safe, so just start looking for that. Other than that, I would just stick to plain items, like whole beans, grilled chicken, fruits, veggies, just nothing pre-mixed. And nothing breaded (as I learned, most breaded items also have dairy, like chicken nuggets, who knew!?!) or premade, unless it says vegan.

Here's to hoping he outgrows it! Scarlett did with the nuts and is nearly over the milk. She is fine if I have cheese or butter now, but I had some ice cream in DL and she threw up twice after that, so she clearly has some remnants still.

Happy Belated New Years everyone. Ours was very nice but VERY COLD. NYE and NYday it didn't get out of the single digits in Breckenridge. Good thing we didn't have plans to leave the house.

I am now on a good storage solution quest. I can't stand clutter and with Natalie I seem to grow clutter. Any suggestions?

So Carys has started biting her crib rail... she just started that last night. crazy girl. I'm off to Babies R Us as soon as she gets up from her morning nap to try to find something to preserve the railing since it will get turned into her bed at some point.

She is a crawling machine right now too. I can't believe how fast she can get from one side of the room to the other. zoom!!!

It's unbelievable that I'm going to be planning her first birthday. How is that possible? It won't be a big shindig, but just family and some friends. Not sure what time yet as she is still taking 2 naps a day. Trying to work around that is a little tough. Don't want a grumpy birthday baby!

Hope everyone is doing well!!! Still fighting off my cold but feeling a little better as each day goes by. I'm sick of blowing my nose! DH had a second interview at the job that he is really hoping to get. They told him that he should hear Monday. Fingers crossed. He really wants it (I want him to get it too!!!)

Does anyone need a code for amazon for 20% off diapers. i'm not going to use it. let me know!

Goodness, things have been busy! Hope everyone had a happy holiday season! We had a nice Christmas at home with family. We told both of our families that we would be doing Brynn’s first Christmas at our house, they were welcome to come, but we wouldn’t be traveling. My family came, but my husband’s family didn’t because my sister-in-law (husband’s youngest brother’s wife) was due to have her baby Christmas day! We did however record Brynn opening up all her gifts so that my in-laws could see it…. That took FOREVER! Brynn loved ripping the paper and ‘eating’ the bows, but it took forever to unwrap everything. :rotfl:She got WAY too much stuff, mostly because my mother-in-law is a shopaholic. I actually took several things and stuck them in a closet to save for her first birthday! I'm a mean mommy! A stuffed Mickey Mouse and a talking tea set have been the biggest hit so far!

We welcomed our first nephew and Brynn’s first cousin into the world on December 29! Poor little Jack was so jaundice that they wouldn’t let them go home till January 2 and even then they went home with a special bed, blanket and jacket! We’re heading for a visit in the next couple of weeks.

Brynn now says “Hi!” to everyone she sees….. It’s still really cute, but it’s starting to drive me a little crazy. She says “ma” long pause “ma”. I’m pretty sure she isn’t saying ma-ma, just simply putting ‘words’ together, but it still makes me smile! She’s still kind of army crawling around and is ironically far better at going backwards than forwards!

Boy oh boy time flies fast… I can’t believe that on Saturday Brynn will be 7 months old, it feels like she was JUST born!

We are starting to look into convertible car seats and I was wondering if anyone has one that they really like. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to 2011!

Lauren, I am a huge Britax fan and LOVE all their seats that we own. We have a Roundabout, Marathon, Decathalon, Frontier, and the Chaperone infant seat. When Scarlett outgrows the Chaperone (which will be awhile from now, as she's only 16lbs and it goes to 30lbs, and height-wise she has a long way to go too), I'll likely get the Britaz Boulevard as it has the side-impact head protection.

I love them not only because they are top-rated for safety, but super easy to install correctly in minutes. We also have 2 different Cosco seats that we use for travel (I forget the model names at the moment), and they're fine for that purpose (they're very lightweight), but the straps are always getting tangled, I can barely install them properly and I'm really good with carseats, and they aren't nearly as comfortable.

The Britax convertibles have pretty high RF limits, so you can use it RF for Brynn past the year/20lbs mark too.

I have also heard good things about the Graco MyRide65 and the Nautilus (but like the Britax Frontier, the Nautilus is FF only for older kids), but have never personally used one so I can't say too much.

Sarah was doing the same thing, so we picked up one of these:
