Looking into our first AbD trip.
I am a little concerned about traveling and motion sickness. Generally if I'm in the front of a bus and can look out, I'm ok. I have never rafted. Am really never been on a boat( besides a cruise ...I didn't like the motion).
What trip would be best? ( travel date July)
I'm looking at Alaska, WY, Montana- Canada or Costa Rica. I have a mature 14 yr old DD& immature 11 DS.
Any pointers for help is great!!

Welcome AZlady, I have rafted in Alaska as well as Montana and both were quite easy to ride with very little motion. In Alaska you raft down a river which starts at the base of a glacier so no large motion just the melting ice from the glacier. In Montana you have a choice of two raft rides one very rough but the other very easy float. We chose the later. For our daughter was younger at the time. We loved it. In Arizona/Utah we did the River and again it was quite pleasant. ABD will make sure you are seated in the front of the bus because on a couple trips some suffered the same fate in motion sickness and we're seated on the bus in the front. People are quite understanding about motion sickness. Your kid's ages are perfect for those ages see to dominate the ages of kids on the three trips we have done with ABD.

First :don't worry!;)

The Adventure guides are amazing! No one could be more challenging than my family, and the AGs handled us perfectly on two adventures!

My Dear Dad has some cognitive and hearing issues. We shared those with the AG on our first night,(Galapagos) and they arranged for mom and dad to have the very front seats on the bus so dad could read lips and hear better. (Thank you, Robbie!):thumbsup2

On our first ABD, (Costa Rica) our 10 yo daughter was so nervous, that she had an anxiety attack before we went rafting. They handled her so well, and the AG made sure he was in our raft as well as a local guide to reassure her that she'd be safe. About 5 minutes in, she was whooping and laughing, just loved it! (Thanks Fico:thumbsup2)

Mom had some hiking challenges (knees) our AG not only provided a walking stick but used one herself and shared how she uses one when hiking the Andes to save her 30 something knees so mom wouldn't feel "bad". (Thank you, Laura:thumbsup2!)

Really, if you have worries, tell your AG, they will make every effort, cheerfully (I would have lost patience with us long before our AGs who never did!) They do an amazing job of managing different abilities, and never push anyone beyond their limits
