I have a 40% code for the Poly already and have picked out the ts restaurants we want. I'm just not sure what days to do what parks and was wondering if it is just easier to have a travel agent do the itinerary and ADR's for me.
Are there any drawbacks with using an agent?

Thanks!

Same here ... I have always done everything myself but I'm wondering if an agent is the way to go next time.

We do all the planning, reservations etc. oursleves direct with CRO. I'd rather have control over my reservation if I want to make changes or cancel and to view it on line than e-mailing a TA back and forth. I've heard and read good things and bad but just rather be in charge of my own vacation. I've gotten quotes a few times from TA's, some were the same price and some alittle higher....see no reason to use a TA, there are alot of web sites to check for discount codes and call and apply when necessary.

Using a TA is really a personal choice and depends a lot on how much time you have to plan, and how much you like to be in control. If you book with a TA you can only make changes to your Resort Reservation/Package through them. You can make your own dining reservations and certainly can take care of all the planning for each day.

If you want someone to do all the work for you-- make your dining reservations, provide you with a detailed itinerary and details on all the rides and shows and things to do then you need to be sure that you select a TA that can do all of that. Some TA's will just book the trip for you and then you are on your own. You definitely want a Disney Specialist and you need to be sure they know enough about Disney to be a help. There should be no additional cost to you to use a TA, they get paid by Disney. If you get a great one they may even be able to save you money by being aware of discounts and applying them to your reservation.

If you want to do it on your own then the DIS is the place to be. You might want to look into Tour Guide Mike or touringplans.com to help with your daily planning (both of these have a small fee). And just spend time reading here and asking questions. And check out our site www.wdwinfo.com and you will also find allearsnet.com to be helpful.
