Looking at tacking on a 2 days at the end of our Disney trip for a very first universal trip. It would be Friday – Sunday. Possibly staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort we would only need 2 day tickets and it looks like that would be the 2-park 2-day park to park ticket. So now the questions lol (very much a newbie). If we left Disney early that morning could we still take advantage of the early park admission like park at our hotel and go to the park? Is their shuttle service similar to Disney buses? How should we plan to spend the 2 days we have no must see rides we aren’t into harry potter while it would be neat we aren’t going to be heart broken. What do you suggest?

You can check into the hotel early and do early entry

Either have your luggage held with bell services or leave it in your
car

All you need for the parks is the hotel keys and your tickets

Cbay has shuttle service to the parks

Ah I love Universal! I highly suggest you take the extra two days :D I haven't stayed onsite at Universal so I'll let someone else tackle the logistical question you asked.

As far as a plan the best thing is you don't really need one! Will you be travelling at a super busy time? If so, you might consider express pass (similar to fastpass but you pay for it and don't schedule ahead of time). I would say just grab a park map and do what sounds fun!

Macraven has you covered with the essentials......

As for how you spend your days........study the park layouts on the website......you know your family best and what rides you’d like and what you’re not bothered with. You can get an idea of where everything is.

I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss Potter.......even folks who aren’t keen on it say both areas in the parks are spectacular.........

Read some reviews and trip reports to get an idea of what rides are like.

We have stickies that are full of info on everything..........the quick access/faq one is an excellent starting point for newbies.

Bus transportation from Cabana Bay is very efficient and starts early. As macraven said you can take advantage of early entry as soon as you get your room key.

I would contact Cabana Bay prior to your stay and set everything up so check in will be quick and you can head to the park soon after you arrive.

I wasn’t a Potter fan a few years back but still enjoyed WWOHP. And after visiting the parks dozens of time I have now watched all the movies and really like the story. It wouldn’t hurt watching a few movies before visiting.

Hope you have a great time.

Would you start with the movies or the books? I love to read I just never really had an interest in it.

My first visit to Universal I wasn't into Harry Potter at all. The visit to the parks changed me though. It was such an amazing experience that it got me into the whole world of HP.

I would start with the movies as that is specifically what the lands are based on.

Books!!! I think just reading the first will be excellent. If no time then movies, but really...the books are amazing. There are parts beyond the first few books that are referenced in the Park, but nothing that will make your experience significantly less fun.
