Hello Everyone- :wave2:
My 20 yr old daughter and I are visiting DL for the first time in Dec. (weeeeeeeeee) we've been to DW before but I'm unfamiliar with California hence these two questions...THe first day of our adventure we arrive in LA at around 1:30 pm..I'm expecting an hour more until we get to our hotel-Paradise Pier (what a treat! my husband surprised me for my birthday). I'm planning on leaving our luggage, grabbing a quick lunch and then going to THE BODYCENTRE day spa in Orange....(1)has anyone been to these spas? They look very basic but affordable...a three hour package was only $130. (2) I'm planning on using a taxi to get to the spa..it's about ten miles from the hotel...any idea how much that'll run so I can budget for it?
Thank you for reading my post and any help you can give is appreciated.

:surfweb: (me exactly right now-cept maybe my heads less round :) )

I would count on 2 hours from your landing until you get to the hotel - and then be happy if you are there earlier especially if you arrive LAX.

Call the cab company re: the taxi but I thought I heard somewhere it is $2 a mile - BUT I really am guessing.

Super Shuttle was pretty good from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport. There is also bus service from the airport to the DL hotels.

Thanks for the heads up. :thumbsup2 This way I'll know to make the spa reservations for late in afternoon. I just want this trip to go well. My DD is spending the next three months in NY (I'm in OR) and I want this trip together to be magical.

I haven't been there, but have seen coupons and their buildings all over the place. Might want to look into Burke Williams day Spa (I think that's the name) at the Block at Orange, someone once told me 3-4 years ago it was good.

My best suggestion for getting there cheaply is to rent a car for a day, what you will pay in airport shuttles and taxis to the spa will be way more than what a rental will be.

If you want a FANTASTIC spa experience, but it is a almost full day adventure, try Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona (they also have a spa at Brea Mall that would be great too). They have relaxing pols, MUD baths, mineral spas, roman baths, salt water spas, ahhh HEAVENLY, I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to Glen Ivy. You would almost need a rental car to get there as it is about 45 min or so from DLR, but soooo worth it. You could just do the regular spa admission and no extra services and feel great. This place would be something to remember.
